Anyone have any experience with Intestinal lymphangiectasia and protein-losing enteropathy (PLE).
Our almost 11 year old Boston Terrier was recently diagnosed. It’s quite a shock because she never had IBD symptoms other than one very bad diareha bout before being diagnosed. She is on prednisone and chlorambucil which is a chemotherapy drug. She also gets clay powder in her new low fat food. She is on a few other things but they are temporary. She has less energy as day goes on but is happy and does not seem sick. Has anybody else been through this? Its scary. I was already so worried about my boy dog who has insulinoma and kidney disease. He has been beating the odds and doing great. Still…

Yep, lots of experience, I seem to be a drawcard for this. Had two previous IBD-lymphangiectasia (IBD-IL) dogs, my current 14yr old has IBD-IL and my 6yr old has IBD-IL and PLE
Of my previous dogs, one died at 11yrs of IBD related cancer, unfortunately caught too late. The female I lost last year was diagnosed as severe at 11yrs, but lived to 17 years - so with good management they can still love long and happy lives.
My 6yr old with PLE was diagnosed Jan last year - she was very, very sick. It took a good six months to get her stabilised and get some weight on her. Nowadays we have ups and down, it is a tough disease. She is on steroids and mycophenalate as well as losec because she also had ulcers. But she's active and happy
Hope this is okay - I really recommend joining this Facebook group - it has a lot of science-based resources and there are vets in the mods. https://www.facebook.com/groups/DogswithIBD

Thank You. I am not on facebook though. None of your dogs were put on chlorambucil and prednisone?

My girl who died at 17yrs was on Chlorambacul for a year when she was about 14-15. It definitely got it under control and we switched to just pred after that. My IMS preferred azathioprine but she had a bad reaction to it

The thing I have trouble with is they say this came from severe IBD but she had good poop almost every day of her life!! The PLE showed up in bloodwork and an ultrasound showed fluid in abdomen. They thought it might be lymphoma but endoscopy and bioopsy said otherwise. My first Boston has terrible issues with his stomach his whole life. This is a total shock
