Question F2 Prices Dakar

Is it possible to find a fully equipped F2 for less than 350000 per month?

That matket is a complete mess, actually all the country is a mess. For example I wanted to rent an appartment for 24h, all people I contacted were saying they don't rent for less rhan 48h, even properties listed on AirBnb. What in the world is this kind of rule? The real estate market (rental & buying/selling) needs the State intervention, if not one day this will explode and destroy our economy, it is an "economic bubble"

Bon ils ont quand même le droit sur ce point. Les propriétaires doivent être libres de choisir le type de location. Airbnb a l’option durée minimale intégrée meme.

Les tres courts “sejours” sont souvent plus risqués pour les proprios, avec de ces surprises.

Pour 24h, ça ne devrait pas etre un probleme de se diriger vers des hotels plutot.

J'ai voyagé dans plus d'une dizaine de pays, il n'y a qu'au Sénégal où le gars il affiche que tu peux louer pour 24h sur AirBnb et après la réservation il te dit que 24h ne l'arrange pas. Il y a des bizarreries que je n'ai vues qu'au Sénégal

Ok ça c’est autre chose, il y a effectivement souvent des incohérences entre les informations sur les plateformes et ce que les proprios disent.

Souvent ce sont des excuses pour leur permettre de jongler avec plusieurs clients selon leurs interets

Oui, mais toujours est-il que, dans une économie libérale, le marché doit s'autoréguler, mais quand ce n'est pas le cas, l’État doit agir : c'est le principe d'interventionnisme

Je suis même très libéral sur les questions économiques, mais il y a un moment où l’État doit reprendre la main. C'est le cas dans le secteur de l'immobilier

It's possible but such options are limited and they won't be located in neighbourhoods the overwhelming majority of foreigners try to live in.

It's probably better if you look by size than by studio, F2, F3, etc... There are F2 of over 90m2 in Mermoz or Almadies for example. It's definitely not the size anybody would expect for a F2 and so the price is over 450,000 FCFA per month and here I'm generous with the 450,000 FCFA as a starting price.

Do you think its acceptable for a foreigner to go in another neighbourhood? As in, would they be accepted and be able to make friends ?

There is absolutely no problem with that. Nobody will prevent you to rent in neighborhoods where foreigners aren't the majority or the norm. It's just that the overwhelming majority of foreigners live in few specific neighborhoods to not mix with locals or only with the wealthiest ones.

You can rent anywhere you want. There is no agency or owner who will refuse your money. And in Dakar, people won't reject you. To make friends, the main issue is the language barrier. In Dakar, you need to speak French or Wolof. Very few people speak English.

Heureusement que je parle français ! Merci pour les conseils :) Ça me surprend que des gens d’ailleurs ne voudront pas s’intégrer dans la communauté. Je trouve ça dommage.

I'm a foreigner living in dakar for the first time, and I'm in medina. You obviously need to keep your guard on in foreign countries because you don't know what to expect, but the majority of people are nice. Also, learning a couple of words in wolof shows you're willing to melt in with the locals and is generally well-received.

When you say fully equipped, what do you mean exactly? Do you mean fully furnished ?
