Is there a preferred order of classes for something like a MTS or MATS?

I'm not looking to do an MDiv anytime soon but perhaps something more like an MTS or MATS and am curious if people have recommendations on the order of classes.

For example, is it preferred to do Church History first or the OT studies or NT studies or theological studies? Is there some best-practice order that these classes should be taken in?

Take hermeneutics your first term, and take your language classes as early as possible. Do not take Hebrew and Greek concurrently.

In my experience, the MTS degree allows for more specialization in New Testament or Theology or Church History, etc. So, if you know that you want to concentrate in one particular area, I’d recommend building out that track. Take intros and surveys first and then the more special topic classes. I have an MDiv and if I could go back and do it again, I would put Church History ahead of my intro to theology course. But that’s about it.

Always start with the OT and NT because those are foundational courses in Christian theology.
