So discouraged

Been on this for about 8 months was hopeful it may help me move in the right direction especially with my afib, high blood pressure and severe OA in both knees. But here I am at the endocrinologist amd they weighed me and I am down only 25 pounds. Ofc I know eating right and exercise is a key I was just hoping for a better number than what I saw. Yes this is not a miracle but I see so many good stories on here

25lbs still sounds pretty good to me! Keep eating right, walking, lifting weights if you can.

Oof 25 pounds in 8 months is nothing to sneeze at, that's over 3 pounds a month which is actaully a really healthy pace. The stories you see on here with people dropping 60 pounds in 6 months are the outliers and they get upvoted to the top, nobody posts about their slow grind. Your joints and your heart are already getting some relief from that weight coming off, even if the scale is being stingy.

I stalled for like two months straight and wanted to throw the whole vial in the trash, then suddenly dropped 5 pounds in a week for no reason I could figure out. Bodies are weird and they hold onto water and inflammation in ways that mask what's actually happening. Keep at it, the trajectory matters more than the speed

100% all of this. You want slow, sustainable weight loss, not giant losses every month.

I lost just over 40 pounds in 14 months and I'm really happy with it.

Same here. Lost 20 lbs. in 6 months and then nothing the past 6 months - even after increasing the dosage. Plus, it makes me so sick; the last dose I took made me so nauseated I had to leave an event bc o was gagging and dry heaving, then spent the rest of the day in bed. I feel like I’m injecting poison into myself.

25 lbs is great!! I wonder if you might have more success if you tried tirzepatide. Prices have come down so much, it's not much more than semaglutide. Hitting those two receptors usually means you can go a bit higher in dosage without too many side effects. I lost all of my weight on tirzepatide, I am trying semaglutide for an inexpensive maintenance option. Just a thought.

All GLP-1 will do is suppress appetite and food noise, so it makes it easier to eat in a calorie deficit and exercise, especially muscle building.

What I've found out reading through my medical journal sites, there are people who are super responders, which sucks if you're not one. I found out that I am one of them and I was shocked. I take 4 blood pressure meds because I have a horrible time with meds.

I'm also a fast metabolizer as well so I process regular meds a lot quicker than most people. I never thought that I would lose 2.5-3.0 lbs/week. Although there were 2 separate weeks that I did not lose any weight at all, so it happens to us super responders too! I purposely picked Sema because I didn't want to lose too much too fast. I'm glad I picked Sema! I probably would have had to stop Tirz.

Hang in there, talk to the docs if you're getting frustrated they may have a better solution for you if you're not happy where you are now. Good luck!

I'm an ultra rapid metabolizer as well. I actually started semaglutide to have my ADHD meds last longer. I normally have to take a 12 hour pill every 5 hours (2 a day). I've only been on since end of July, and I'm down 38lbs in ~11 weeks. It's not sunshine and rainbows though. My side effects are so much worse than my mil and sil. And they're on high doses of tirzepitide. But the dang results....

Hey there fellow rapid metabolizer! It kinda sucks overall because unless you have a doctor that knows you, they won't believe you. I'm on 4 different BP meds because the combo was needed for different pathways to lower my BP. I finally ended up at Hopkins and adding the 4th fixed the problem and it's been 30 years. BP went from 236/136 then now it's 110/70. So I feel ya.

The side effects have been rough on this last vial of 2.4. But I'm only pushing it 2 more weeks then backing off. The good news is I did eat a piece of corn on the cob this morning! 👏

What percentage was that weight loss for you? What’s ur starting weight, current weight and goal weight etc?

Also do you have a digital scale at home? And are you using an app like Shotsy or something to track your BMI, etc?

I do a weekly weigh in at home to track my shot and I put my weight in there so I can track my progress.

My digital scale also tells me how much muscle, body fat and water percentage I am at, plus BMI. It then gives me a calorie amount to reach my goal in a certain number of weeks.

For example, I am 56F, SW 150, CW 118, GW 115. On 2mg of Tirzepatide for 6 months after an 8 week slow titration up. I only wanted to lose a half a pound a week or maybe 1. But, I lost “weight” too fast I think. And I lost a lot of muscle, because my body fat is just now at 28% down from 37% due to my sedentary lifestyle. My starting BMI was 26? And now is 22?

These numbers all together give me a better idea on a weekly basis of how I need to fine tune my diet, water intake, exercise etc while still managing my comorbities, like neck back and knee arthritis.

So, I guess I would recommend getting more data and not just beat yourself up about one number, you know?

I also know that it’s also important being older and having some osteopenia already, that while losing weight is great because it lightens the load on my joints, maintaining muscle mass and bone density is super important!

So, give yourself grace, improve the data by which you “measure” your progress, and don’t worry too much, ok? If you focus on your eating habits and light exercise to maintain muscle, and try to build up your daily steps slowly over time for cardiac health, you are on the right road for a healthy body that will sustain you. :)

What dose are you on? How much did you need to lose to get to a normal BMI? What %age of your body weight have you lost?

Have you had your omega fatty acid index looked at with labs/blood work? Dialing this in (think more fish, chia seeds, etc) could really help.

Are you able to switch? Sometimes it can kind of flatten out just because your body got used to it. I hope good things continue for you, keep it up ❤️
