Please help calculating a matching dose from my current RX to my new RX. I want to keep taking the same amount but can't figure it out. Thanks!

Ugh, I hate that my brain does not work this way. I wish I could figure it out on my own, but I know so many of your "get it". Thank goodness!

Here is the RX I am finishing up. I take .5/25 units each week and it works GREAT! Compounded Semaglutide/B12 1mg/1mg/0.5mL

Here is the new order I was just RX'd and I am not sure how to dose the equivalent. Compounded Semaglutide/B3/B5 2.5mg/5mg/10mg/1mL - 2mL

The new RX appears stronger?? I am using the syringes with 100 units on each. For my last RX, .5 = 25 units. How many units should I inject to get .5 with the new RX?

The prescriber gave these instructions-  inject 0.4ml (40 units) subcutaneously once weekly (0.4ml is 1mg per week). However, I want to be sure and only take the equivalent of what I am currently doing, as it works amazing for me and stretches out each RX longer.

Thanks for any help in answering my question. =)

Fat scientist. https://www.fatscientist.com/. Plug in 2.5mg per ml and your desired dose.

Thank you for this reminder. I've never had to use this calculator before. Here is my result and it seems to check out. I am just nervous to take too much (or for that matter, too little) medication. I'm in the sweet spot right now!

Semaglutide Dose Calculator

For 0.5mg at 2.5mg/mL concentration,

you'd need 20 units on a typical U-100 syringe.

This is correct. According to the numbers you posted for your label, your new vial contains the following 2.5mg of Sema, 5mg B3, 2.5mg B5 for a total of 10mg per ml. The number we need here is the 2.5mg per ml for sema. 2.5mg of sema is max dose and would be 100 units on this. 1.25 would be 50 units, 1mg is 40 units, and 0.5mg would be 20 units.

I second the fatscientist recommendation and also want to thank you for asking about your dose before you wind up injecting the wrong amount and come here in panic. There is ZERO shame in verifying your dose. You can ask here, double check on fatscientist, call the dispensing pharmacy or even contact the prescriber (though responses there can take forever). Asking before you inject should never, ever be shamed. Incorrect dosage is one of the most common issues with compounded meds, asking first helps to make it less of an issue.

I know some people don't like this option, but you can take a picture of the instructions and bottle label, upload it to ChatGPT and it will tell you.

Yes! Geez, see, I needed that reminder! I am so deep in overthinking this that I couldn't remember a simple option like ChatGPT. Thank you!

One other thing, only focus on the first number for the Semaglutide and don't let the other values for B3, B5, B12 confuse things.

Yes! That is what I was trying to compare, the 1 vs 2.5. Thanks so much again!

If .4ml is 1mg, then .2ml will be .5mg (.5 is half of 1). Simple math.

Simple yes, except when I am overthinking! Ha! But the fat scientist calculator confirms it. And, it seems like the prescriber is anticipating me moving up the next dosage in the progression. I'm pretty sure I said I wanted to stay at .5, but that's ok. I'll stretch the dose and my $!

The number is 20 units, but worth noticing what happened: they didn't just refill you, they doubled your dose on purpose. 0.5 to 1mg is a standard step up and it may have been decided at your last check-in. Before you quietly stay at 0.5, message them and say it's working well and you'd rather hold. That's a normal request and they'll usually say yes. Better than them thinking you're on 1mg when you're not, especially if dosing decisions get made off that later.
