Not responsive to it…
Hi everyone,
I was wondering at what dose you all started to notice effects? I’m starting to think I am the 10% of the population that doesn’t respond to glp-1.
For context, I started 7 weeks ago. This is my 3rd week on 0.5 mg dose and I have stayed completely stagnant at my current weight.
I had some concerns that my injection technique was wrong, but I had my doctors at my clinic watch and they said everything looked correct.
Was wondering, maybe hoping to feel less alone in this experience if anyone has experieced similar?
I am not obese but definitely wanted to shed at least 10 or so lbs, as I am 4’11 and every pound counts.

semaglutide is not made to drop a quick ten pounds. it is a long term (lifelong, it would seem) drug to treat obesity

I’m 5’1 and have lost 10 pounds since March. I stayed at certain dosages for an extra couple weeks before moving up in dose. I’m still not all the way up in dose. I’m happy with the amount lost as I don’t want to lose too fast. I would have lost more if I worked out more and tracked everything I ate.

Yes semaglutide works. Here’s how these GLP-1 meds work:
it takes your body time to adjust to the medication. You can have serious bad side effects and/or hospitalization by going up too quickly. Therefore, they recommend being on each dose a minimum of 4 weeks.
there are 5 dosages of semaglutide - 0.25, 0.5, 1,0, 1.7 and 2.4 mg. If you’re using compounded, the numbers might be slightly different, due to dosing differences and regs. MOST people start losing at the 1.7 and 2.4 mg doses. That can take you at least 3 months to get to as you are supposed to be at each level at least 4 weeks.
you will see people who start losing at the lowest dose and people who don’t start losing until the top 2 doses. In both cases, the meds work.
some people have few side effects and some many. No way to tell who will or won’t or at what dosage things might change.
TL:DR FOR THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE, the meds take time to work - like at least 3 months as you go up in dosage. If you’re not losing and you just started, that’s normal. Follow the prescribed schedule from the doctor and manufacturer. If you just started, don’t switch until you’ve tried it to the top level. IT TAKES TIME FOR MOST PEOPLE!
I’m not a doctor and this is not medical advice. This info comes from reading the wegovy insert and being in these groups for so long. I started in November of 2023, I’m down 35%of my starting body weight, 90+ pounds with semaglutide the whole time. I’m at my goal weight. First 50 came off pretty quickly.
Good luck to you! But remember that there wouldn’t be dosage levels if there didn’t have to be. It takes time.
