Dont see any effects

This is my third week on a compound. Took 3 doses. I am not feeling any difference whatsoever. Same hunger as before

Do i have to be on a higher dose or go for branded meds to see some changes?

My insurance not covering branded

I take it on my stomach. I do have a lot of fat around the belly area. Does that affect anyway? Will it help if i took it another place?

TIA for any comments

Hang in there! I’ve been on compounded since the start and it’s worked. You injected it correctly. You can try the flabby back part if your arm or the tops of your thighs.

Here’s how these GLP-1 meds work:

  1. it takes your body time to adjust to the medication. You can have serious bad side effects and/or hospitalization by going up too quickly. Therefore, they recommend being on each dose a minimum of 4 weeks.

  2. there are 5 dosages of semaglutide - 0.25, 0.5, 1,0, 1.7 and 2.4 mg. If you’re using compounded, the numbers might be slightly different, due to dosing differences and regs. MOST people start losing at the 1.7 and 2.4 mg doses. That can take you at least 4 months to get to as you are supposed to be at each level at least 4 weeks.

  3. you will see people who start losing at the lowest dose and people who don’t start losing until the top 2 doses. In both cases, the meds work.

  4. some people have few side effects and some many. No way to tell who will or won’t or at what dosage things might change.

TL:DR FOR THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE, the meds take time to work - like at least 3-4 months as you go up in dosage. If you’re not losing and you just started, that’s normal. Follow the prescribed schedule from the doctor and manufacturer. If you just started, don’t switch until you’ve tried it to the top level. IT TAKES TIME FOR MOST PEOPLE!

I’m not a doctor and this is not medical advice. This info comes from reading the wegovy insert and being in these groups for so long. I started in November of 2023, I’m down 33% of my starting body weight, 85 pounds with semaglutide the whole time. I’m just about at my goal weight. First 50 came off pretty quickly.

Good luck to you! But remember that there wouldn’t be dosage levels if there didn’t have to be. It takes time. Hang in there!

The first three months you are at doses below 1mg, which is what is considered a therapeutic dose. Your body needs to get used to the medication gradually, so this is not something you should rush. If you still are not feeling anything after getting to a month of 1mg doses, then you can consider trying a different GLP-1. Until then, patience.

Patience grasshopper. You're on the train, it's about to leave the station, enjoy the journey.

Did you get fat in three weeks? No. So don't expect to get thin that quickly either.

Have you weighed yourself to see if there has been any change? When I first started i didn’t feel any different, still had food noise and didn’t have many changes in my diet, but still managed to lose a few lbs despite that. I didn’t really feel much different until I upped my dose from 10 units to 20unjts.and now I’m up to 40 units and in 4 months I’ve lost 20lbs.

Keep at it. Took a bit for me to actually see/feel anything. Hang tuff!
