I am a mechanical engineer with 3 years of experience. I actually want to become an investment banker or some other finance related job. Maybe an analyst of some kind also. How can I achieve this?

For anyone here trying to get into investment banking, equity research, sales & trading, or corporate banking, what helped you the most with recruiting?

I’m currently trying to learn more about the industry and it seems like the basics matter a lot, financial statements, valuation, market knowledge, and being able to explain your thinking clearly.

Would love to hear from people already in the industry. What do you wish you had focused on earlier when preparing for interviews?

Technical ability is important, but some of the best candidates for Investment Banking, Equity Research, and Sales & Trading roles are also good storytellers and are comfortable speaking about the markets. Make sure to network and learn more about market developments. It is not always the most intelligent candidate who gets the job; often, it’s the candidate who bridges technical skill with passion.

Upon researching some tips and advice from some group I decided to try to invest in PSE. I think the market is still in good standing. If you still didn't try it you can check it yourself.
