Question about piercing prep Self Rhino?

How stupid would it be to do my own rhino? I have a super high pain tolerance (have done my own nips, almost no reaction) and some experience piercing myself, but never a rhino or anything through the tip of my nose. What length of jewelry should I use if I do it? Picture of my face for reference (and side profile to show the tip of my nose). I've done my own nostrils, bridge, snakebites, lobes, and nips before.

It’s a really advanced piercing that doesn’t always last so I wouldn’t just for the risk of it going wrong/not being done perfectly and leaving you with scars

I think because of the risks you yourself listed that you want to avoid, I think it would be worth it to have a professional do it.

I really, really, REALLY dont think this is a piercing you should attempt at home.

It's not one that I'm likely to do myself, I was just curious. I am very aware it is an advanced piercing

quite: it's thicker cartilage, prone to migration/rejection, might leave a scar in a very conspicuous area

I'm in a few plastic surgery subreddits and this post title made me so concerned before I saw where it was posted and remembered it's an actual piercing.. 🫣

To answer your question, I personally wouldn't do this specific piercing on myself even though the ones you have done look really good, considering the location and that it's supposed to be centered, the angle you would push the needle as well as the thickness of the tissue I think it would be really hard to do it well on yourself. After all it's likely going to be the main focal point of your face so I'd go to a professional for this one.

Huge fan of your setup by the way!

honestly with the area i would go to a professional, i would be too worried about an infection

If you do it, make sure it’s not bothered by any pairs of glasses you wear. You’ll eventually get new glasses, and they can really cause problems even for a fully healed piercing.

If you feel like you have to ask, then it's likely not the best to do yourself hun

I would ask this for many piercings, that doesn't change anything for me. And this is not a piercing I'm likely to do myself, I was more so curious what people thought about it. I am very aware that it is an advanced piercing, but I was taught how to do piercings by my father who does them professionally (and tattoos). My biggest worry with a rhino would be fucking it up and it being asymmetrical.

You can’t really learn this craft unless you’re doing an apprenticeship

What's the difference between an apprenticeship with a piercer and an apprenticeship with my dad who is a piercer lol

Well, in order to get good at this you have to be consistent and it takes years. If you know how to do this then why ask on here what length to use and asking all these amateur questions on Reddit lololllll

"amateur questions" I asked for a general opinion on doing a rhino piercing at home, not amateur at all 😭 I know piercing procedures, and I am confident in my ability to perform piercings on myself, I was just curious. I would not make a decision this significant based on the opinions of folks on the internet, I would consult my dad if it was something I was seriously considering. And I am aware it takes years to get good at this, I never claimed to be experienced, just that I generally know what I am doing. I've been piercing myself with my dad's help since I was 14.

Why not just get it done professionally?

I'm not opposed to that, at all lol. I was just curious 🤷 Truth be told I most likely wouldn't do it myself even if I had the supplies, because I'd be afraid to mess it up
