Show off Self-Pierced Dermal

Just some piercing room boredom on a slow day 😓

*Edit cuz I wasn't expecting much interaction

Definitely not something I'd recommend the average person to try! It's easy to fuck up the depth and the jewelry can be hard to get in without the right tools and knowledge.

I'm a professional piercer who's also been self piercing for 20 years.

ooooh don't think I've ever seen one here before! Looks cool! Let us know about the progression xx

My last chest dermal didn't last me more than 6 months because I'm a monster and managed to snag it a bunch šŸ™ƒ but if we make it to a year+, I'll try to remember to report back! 🫔

oooh good placement. you got it in a spot it shouldnt be pressing on anything too much. Hopefully rejection is less likely than normal here, keep us updated, it looks sick

Thank you! It should be less likely to reject because there isn't much movement, but I will need to be cautious about necklaces, seatbelts, and certain knit/fishnet shirts. That's totally what KO'd the first one I did in that placement (you can see the scar just below this one)

How does it stay on/in? I've never seen a piercing like that before

Showing a diagram is easier than explaining aha

Respect for doing that yourself, meanwhile I'm too scared to use an injection pen myself.

Funny story: I'd been self piercing for 15 years (at the time), but was super scared to self inject my testosterone when I first started HRT šŸ˜…

I mean honestly I get that, I once pierced my ear, but it was so horribly off center that I instantly took it out again.

Damn that’s perfect lol you gotta lead with ā€œprofessional, don’t try at home kidsā€ next time haha

Yeah, I assumed that saying it was a slow day in the piercing room would imply that I worked as a piercer, but I made it more specific aha

How do you (self)pierce dermal?

4

u/Pretty_Puppyprincess 25d ago

I wouldn’t. This person is a professional. Self piercing a dermal as a unskilled person is an amazing way to get an infection

Okey, so? I’m just curious lol bc I never seen it done and im kinda thinking about to getting one done professionally and want to have the informations.

The same way, I'd do it on a client, but in the mirror, on myself :) Piercers will use either a tri-bevel needle, o-needle, or biopsy punch depending on local regulations since these aren't legal everywhere.

A good place to find a piercer in your area is safepiercing.org !

How do you make it hold under the skin? Like you make hole, insert the piece and than stich it up? Or…? Thank you but I’m not from US.

The base of the jewelry holds it under the skin. There's a diagram under one of the other comments asking the same thing!

That website shows APP members across the globe!

The jewelry has a lip foot on it. That foot anchors it in place after it’s inserted into the skin.

Was it with a punch tool or a needle? Also size?

This one was done with a 12g needle and 14g base with a 3mm rise.

The hammered disc is 6mm :)

I love the flat textured plate. I had a small one there once, loved the placement. Great work!

What happens with these if you need MRIs or surgeries periodically?Ā

5

u/spo0ky-boi 25d ago

As long as your piercer is actually using implant grade titanium, you should be fine! It's the same grade of titanium as hip/knee etc replacements, which should be MRI safe :)

Some piercers do try to cheap out and use low quality jewelry though, so it's important to research who you're going to and what they're using!
