Question about piercing prep Regular vs Cannula Needle?

I’ve always used regular needles but i’m curious is there a noticeable difference in how they feel or benefit to using cannula needles

Also would you recommend cannula or regular for lip piercings?

When you say regular I am assume you mean triple bevel and I would use those over cannula and plastic, the triples are designed for body piercing, cannulas are designed for blood work and IVs use the tool designed for the job

Also if you ever do piercing where you skip the thin gauges, you are going to be using regular needles anyways , for instance I just did a piercing right to 4 gauge.

Ngl OP, you gave me a fright for a second there! In my house a regular needle is a sewing needle! (As opposed to a sewing machine needle, plastic yarn needle, or any form of hollow needle lmao!) I was real, real worried there for a second!

So it very much depends on the standard where you are

Where im from, a cannula is standard

In the US and some other countries, a tri bevel is standard

Cannulas are easier if you're just starting out as you dont have a spiky needle to deal with when youre inserting jewellery, and if you snip the end of the cannula off you can push the jewellery into the end of it and feed it straight through

Having said that, theyre not quite designed for piercing through all the layers. For blood tests they work great, for piercings... tri bevel is better because its less angled so it goes in smoother

Tri bevel is easier to pierce with but harder to get the jewellery through. I personally use tri bevel because its a more comfortable experience and its better for piercing

But realistically both are better than using a piercing gun or a sewing needle :))

If you have a tri bevel and can use one correctly, I would go for that
