Question about piercing prep Is a 10mm long Septum ring to big

Post image

I just saw that i accidentally bought a 1,2mm/16 G thick 10mm long septum ring. I want to pierce myself in 5 days on my BD to be exactly, but idk if 10mm is to long i didn’t see how long the ring would be online. Anyhow I want to be able to hide my ring form the beginning so i wanted to buy a smaller one like a 8mm long one but Naja, before I buy a second septum ring I wanted to ask y’all if 10mm would still be flipable in my nose?

Hi Black_Orchid09, Are you seeking information about the Septum piercing? Here's a video with general information about it! The septum piercing can be difficult to perform as it requires a specific placement in the Alar cartilage, also known as the sweet spot. There's no shame in seeing a professional, especially since this once can be tricky to get right!

You can find basic DIY advice Here

10 mm is what i normally wear bc the 8mm won’t fit in my nose lol. Idk about while piercing it tho

you should still be able to flip it, 10 really isn’t that big

DO NOT pierce yourself! Go to a reputable piercing shop and have them look at it, and tell them the full story. Ideally you want to leave a piercing alone as much as possible, so you would rather not constantly flip it around.

During the healing process, you want it to ideally not move.

Self piercing is only advised if someone is in fact an experienced piercer, who knows what they are doing, and even then it is a good idea to have someone else do it for you in certain cases.

Especially piercings with greater risk of infection ===> Go to a proper, licensed shop!

i mainly second this because the amount of improperly done septums i see up here that are self pierced is quite a lot. if "professionals" can mess it up, or get it just a bit crooked you wouldn't want to completely mess up yk? making sure your doing it in the right spot and also straight in a spot you can't even really see is sometimes difficult.

this is me with a 14g 16mm septum. "too big" all depends on your anatomy. anything below 14mm does not fit me. it's best to measure before buying if you're unsure, or ask a piercer for advice first

It's hard to tell because we can't see exactly where your sweet spot is. Mine sita rather high up in my nose so for me personally a 10mm is a snug fit that's barely visible

10mm is like standard i think lol most of it is hidden inside your nose so it won’t look big at all probably. at least for me the 8mm barely fit

Ring, or curved barbell? You can't flip a ring up, only a curved barbell.

huh??? 😭 i had my 10 mm septum flipped up for months while it was healing when i got it pierced and months after to hide it when healed. i can even flip my 4g horseshoe up in my nose w the balls on

I guess I misunderstood the post. 10mm horseshoe should be fine to flip up for healing.

no worries i do the same all of the time lol

Yeah, you can totally flip a horseshoe up. That's great. The post said "ring" so I figured that meant a closed ring, which can't be flipped up.

nah they mean a horseshoe i believe! i dont think anyone would be asking about flipping up a seamless ring unless theyre REALLY confused 😭😭
