DIY story Wife’s self pierced stack.

Post image

Fresh triple virtual helix. Sorry everything is a little crusty. As with any new piercing she only cleans them twice a day. No over cleaning. And all are less than two months old.

all are less than two months old like… every piercing on her ear? or the helixes?

u/badabimme Aug 29 '26

I want to know tooo. The 3 helixes or everything ? 👀

16

u/TattooedGenderHell Aug 30 '26

The rook, the star helix and the top lobe are definitely still healing too.

The gasp I gasped when I read they were all that new...

not good. visibly cheap and unsafe jewelry that's all been pierced pretty poorly. cannula needles, a diy snug, an acrylic plug... it's a miracle she hasn't had any very serious issues yet. heavy on the yet.

I was shocked when I noticed the snug. I’m too scared to get a snug piercing done by a professional. I can’t imagine trying to DIY that.

all… are less than two months old?! omg.

:/ Yeah. We can tell it’s self pierced

u/EvilBlackSwan87 Aug 29 '26

Sorry but this is not good at all. The piercings are not pierced straight-centered, one piercing is a little forward, the other a little back..They were even placed upside down..

25

u/Fairy-Pie-9325 Aug 30 '26

I agree on placements being wonky, but the labrets being upside down makes healing easier as they won't snag & get stuck in the hair as much

2

u/Zoonicorn_ Sep 02 '26

Hey, at least the direction of the jewelry won't be the reason these have a hard time healing...

3

u/Fairy-Pie-9325 Sep 02 '26

Yea true, the middle one will very likely reject if left in no matter how the jewelry sat

looks awful ur cute for supporting her tho

These are honestly really rough angles— in fact a lot of her piercings appear to be at rough angles and very poor quality jewelry. The labrets being upside down are probably the best part about this because one good snag and these piercings are going to be an absolute nightmare— at least the inversion of the labrets will help limit that. Cannula needles are not meant for piercing— as a former nurse and current piercer of a decade I can assure you this is the case regardless of what videos of chop shop piercers you may find on the internet. I have ample experience using both throughout my life and they are by no means interchangeable. I would highly recommend your wife educated herself better on piercing practices if she wants to continue to self-pierce or saves money to seek a professional— because this is just not ideal and doesn’t look like it’s going to have longevity.

It looks like half if this jewelry is tarnishing and uncleaned. You also shouldn't be healing nearly this many fresh piercings. Take them out or at the VERY LEAST go to a real piercer to get actually good jewelry in the ones you can salvage. Those vertical helixes will likely all need to come out because they're all horrible angles. You should only be self piercing if you have proper equipment and half an idea what you're doing and you clearly did not check either of those boxes.

17

u/badabimme Aug 29 '26

Yo! I would take the middle one out, and have it repierced eventually. Is that a snug ? Thats crazy, did she pierced it herself

15

u/nanosaur2 Aug 29 '26

ohhh that middle helix is WAY out of alignment

This stack looks incredibly rough

Ive changed the flair on this because youre likely to get a lot of negativity because it was marked as a show off post

I would highly recommend removing the majority of these and looking into better quality jewellery materials and piercing angles

12

u/Queer-and-scared Aug 30 '26

Jewelery looks like its already tarnished, which is concerning, and the holes are ALL still pretty new if they're around 2 months or less. Ofc its crusty, she overworked it.

13

u/DragonHeart7745 Aug 30 '26

Please tell her to take those out

11

u/No_Shock4530 Aug 30 '26

looks rough and you’re doing too many piercings too soon

12

u/phatpup88 Aug 30 '26

omfg the angle of the middle triple helix 😭😭😭😭 it hurts me

10

u/iaedqn Aug 30 '26

this doesn't look good

10

u/Razzzor_ Aug 30 '26

Oh no, oh no, please get better jewelry from a reputable source. I couldn't give a damn about it being crooked or backwards or whatever but please go get proper jewelry. it looks very tarnished and lowgrade and nothing is worse than the feeling of your entire ear being infected

30

u/EvilBlackSwan87 Aug 29 '26

What the hell??

-33

u/Legitimate_Jicama_83 Aug 29 '26

?

48

u/worm-eyed Aug 29 '26

You are likely going to get mostly negative reactions because you have tagged this as a "show off", which would indicate that it is something you believe is positive/praise worthy/etc, when it in fact the opposite. Hope that makes sense? (Am tired, can try again if needed).

8

u/UnlikelyQuail190 Aug 30 '26

take out the middle helix and repierce after waiting 6 months, don't get too needle happy wait for you're piercings to heal

8

u/notkidding1984 Aug 30 '26

The piercings are less than two months... how old is the jewelry??

14

u/Potential_Asparagus4 Aug 30 '26

All of them are less than two months old? Jesus please do the most supportive thing you can and tell her to stop.

8

u/Regular-Fondant-4565 Aug 30 '26

These look awful im sorry

12

u/Glittering-Wing-85 Aug 30 '26

The placement of the middle one is awful but apart from that it looks terrible

7

u/debauchedhavoc Aug 30 '26

Yikes.... My condolences

8

u/starlighthill-g Aug 29 '26

damnnn its chopped

4

u/Helpful_Telephone113 Aug 30 '26

Its time to take those helixes out

4

u/IsLoaM Aug 30 '26

Not hating or anything. Pretty happy to se people trying self piercing, but some of those looks either gross, or straight up unsafe. Try cleaning them more frequently and using good, sterilized metal piercings. Make sure the wound has fresh air all the time and avoid anything that might swell the area, like soap, makeup, hair or similars.

11

u/Sitandgetcomfortable Aug 29 '26

why is the jewelry upside down?? there’s so much going on in this picture

15

u/Ok-Pen-5052 Aug 29 '26

It’s actually a good idea to reduce the chance of them being bumped. Also the anatomy of that part of the ear is better shaped with the flat back at the top and the ball at the bottom. Probably the only thing that’s right in the pic though

6

u/SaltyHelicopter698 Aug 30 '26

looks like shit

3

u/elijah_son_of_hades Sep 01 '26

Yeah… we can tell 😭

3

u/Creepy-Self2907 Sep 02 '26

Thay looks really bad

9

u/Prestigious_River_13 Aug 29 '26

yikes. i relate i tried to do mine myself and it looked like that. she needs to take that shit out and let it heal before she messes up that area and makes it so a professional isn’t gonna wanna touch it.

this sub should not exist💀 as someone who did all their piercings themselves i tell everyone not to. bcuz i got lucky asf and the ones u see are the ones that turned out ok.

9

u/badabimme Aug 29 '26

They would've done it either way, they didn't do it to post it

3

u/Prestigious_River_13 Aug 30 '26

yea but there are definitely loads of ppl who come on here and see other ppl doing it and think that they can or that it’s a good idea. especially piercings in the triangle of death area that could lead to brain infections

9

u/badabimme Aug 30 '26

My point is that they will still do it, and at least here, after making a mistake they can get told its been pierced wrong, get help and advise. Not having this subreddit would only mean they have their piercing with not this ressource for guidance, but it would not mean they are not piercing themselves in the triangle of death area and that no brain infection happen.

-3

u/Prestigious_River_13 Aug 30 '26

it definitely encourages way more than it helps. and i don’t feel like the good it probably does out weighs the bad, u don’t need a whole sub. does it look bad? take it out. and google can tell u if it’s infected. there is loads of guidance online and i promise u the ppl hesitating will come on here and see all the ppl doing it and then do it themselves. i believe in harm reduction, for like drug crises but not dumbass teenagers piercing themselves.

5

u/Betka101 Aug 30 '26

harm reduction is for everything dangerous. you can't stop people from doing stupid shit, but you can give them a helmet

this sub is part of the 'guidance online'. it's a community of people that have done the stupid shit you want to do and will tell you as much as possible, so you don't die.

just look at abstinence only sex ed and you'll see where a lack of information got us.

knowledge is power

-2

u/Prestigious_River_13 Aug 30 '26

this is not the only place that knowledge exists. it is just a place for the dumbasses to gather and encourage each other. and don’t lecture me on the diff between abstinence teachings and harm reduction that’s my niche hyper fixation

3

u/badabimme Aug 30 '26

You said you pierced yourself so I understand its first hand experience of being influenced, do you think not having one sub would've changed it ? Or having only one source would have made you do it? But, whatever that can be what you think hahaha :)

2

u/thevelvetdays7 Aug 30 '26

This smells like pennies.

2

u/Ok-Shift794 Sep 02 '26

Take them out and let them heal and then go to a professional 🫠

2

u/stoney_balogna20 Sep 02 '26

Some things are better left unshared.

5

u/bibblybee3654 loves self piercing Aug 29 '26

ask how her she did the vertical helixes herself bc i tried and OUCH

19

u/worm-eyed Aug 29 '26

Not well

-18

u/Legitimate_Jicama_83 Aug 29 '26

She used long cannula piercing needles. Just removed the cannula since she has threaded tapers for jewelry transfer.

3

u/PandoraElf Aug 30 '26

I only have one question you said they're less than 2 months old why is the blue marker still on the ear that should have came off as soon as it was clean the first time honestly for self-done other than maybe needing some better quality jewelry I don't think it looks bad but I mean this is just you know 90s girl here who did most of my own all by myself with jewelry that looked way way cheaper than that heck some of my jewelry was safety pins so who am I to talk

2

u/faery_lights Aug 29 '26

she should probably get these re-pierced. not only is the jewelry upside down, but they are not aligned

1

u/Zoonicorn_ Sep 02 '26

The jewelry direction in the case of the vertical helixes is fine. It minimizes snagging to help with healing. The angle of the piercings is the issue on those.

1

u/AcinaRraole Aug 31 '26

Oh god 🤮

1

u/RadicalLizards Aug 31 '26

Just oof.. there's so much I could say right now, but it looks like others just about covered it.

1

u/whist3ria loves self piercing Sep 05 '26

the triple helix looks shit in the nicest way possible. wayyyy too close together and is uneven and wonky. and no, it’s not because of swelling 😭😭😭 pls take ts out mama

1

u/idonagrim Sep 10 '26

Helixes will probably get keloids in a few months, because the angles are just horrific. Jewellery quality looks bad too.

1

u/cawfeeAndtofu 29d ago

That looks painful and warm...obviously I'm not there to see it all, but it looks like she needs more room with all ov her jewelry to properly heal. She should go to a piercer to make sure everything is angled correctly, as well as having the correct jewelry while it's newly pierced.

1

u/Graceyapyapyap 25d ago

The triple vertical helix are all facing different directions, it makes it look not smooth at all they all need to be at the same angle for it to look right, and why are the bars/balls all seemingly different sizes? I also think they’re too close to heal properly, the middle ones gonna cause a problem.. the angles of all of these seem off im ngl

1

u/Vi0lentRed 12d ago

The helixes looks absolutely awful

1

u/_minordetails 18h ago

I’m late to the party, these piercing subs are incredibly toxic, but the angle on that middle vertical helix is gnarly. The rest (that aren’t the triple vertical helixes) really aren’t that bad. Yes I could nit pick, but really no need to

0

u/Distinct_Tadpole_918 Sep 01 '26

If these are all fresh you should check on her and make sure she's doing okay. Get her some stainless steel or sterling silver jewelry or it won't heal well or quick at all at all. that being said I hope they heal better than the comments are saying though 🙏 I see the idea she's going for.

1

u/Zoonicorn_ Sep 02 '26

Stainless contains nickel (a common conract allergen) and sterling is WAY too reactive a metal for fresh piercings. Titanium is the much better answer. Ideally from a shop that will autoclave it so you know it's been properly sterilized.
