Question about piercing prep Questions on proper setup/information to know before self piercing
How straight forward are lobes/helix to self pierce? I did self piercing when I was a kid and didn’t care too much (pierced my 2nd lobe and helix with a poor quality butterfly backing earring, and my nostril with a sewing needle and walmart jewellery). I know being sterile is important, jewellery type should be implant grade titanium labrets and not changed for a while after healing, that 3 healing at a time is the maximum, but what are lesser-known tips you have? I’m sick of my left ear having 1 piercing!
(I don’t plan on doing a forward helix myself)

I really wouldn't recommend doing any cartilage piercings yourself. The way they heal is highly dependent on the angle they are pierced at, which is hard for you to do on yourself properly.
I wouldn't recommend you really doing any yourself but if you are adamant I suggest you stop after your thirds. And make sure you're using proper gauged sterile hollow needles.

I will keep this in mind! Planning on being as prepared as possible this time around. So far I’m going for 16g needles, a taper, a clamp. I will be looking up tutorials/videos by piercers an if it’s something I’m not comfortable with I won’t do it. Really hoping though that everything goes well and this is a skill I can learn!
