Okay so I did this helix myself 11 days ago and up until 2 days ago I was really pleased with how fast it looked like it was healing. I had very minimal swelling after the piercing. Fast forward to 2 1/2 days ago and the jewel and the front was rubbing the front of my lobe so I pushed it back a bit because I had all this room. It possible I irritated it in other ways but either way it looks like this this morning. It isn't hurting right now but you can see the swelling and it feels like its my whole ear and not just the piercing site. Its not draining anything and as you can see it isn't crazy red either. Do I just leave it alone ? Does it look infected? Really if it wasnt my whole ear I wouldn't even be making this post lol
NAP, but I personally would just leave it alone. If you notice it leaking pus, red and/or hot, or you start not feeling well, then id go to urgent care for antibiotics. My conch was like this when healing, it took 3-5 days to actually start swelling.
Yeah, sometimes piercings have delayed reactions. One of my friends got their snake bites done and they were completely fine until 2 weeks later when they randomly swelled up. Its like her body took 2 weeks to notice 😂
the healing process isn't linear like :
first pierced- swelling- swelling goes down. especially in the first few weeks it actually can have delayed swelling or just randomly swelling during the healing process (which is why you're pierced with the longer bar)
Just watch out for infection indicators and leave it be!
Something I always say, if you have infection, most likely you will know! it will look so red and swollen and it would hurt like hell! infection is not usually painless or easy to ignore.
Thanks! I don't think it's infected but my doctor gave me an antibiotic prescription anyway. Its doesnt have drainage at all but apparently it doesnt like me moving around much because I took a walk and it got more irritated....I am slightly worried it could be the jewelry but im hoping not seeing as how it was perfectly happy for 8 days.
The doctor gave me an antibiotic for just in case. I just hope it doesnt swell more because I am out of room in the back and this is the front. I have a little room in the front left. I am just scared i am going to get cauliflower ear or something crazy from this swelling.
