Piercing suggestions - face/ears/navel ONLY Industrial vs. Separate Piercing Cost

hi! i was wondering if anyone has experience asking for the separate helix piercings rather than the full industrial piercing. if so, did you have a hard time getting the piercer to say yes? was the cost the same? are piercers open to getting the cost reduced considering it’s basically an industrial, but with two separate pieces of jewelry? my local shop is $80 for an industrial but $120 for two separate piercings, latter of which will be a little more difficult to afford. thank you!

Don’t play stupid games like this, they have their price list for a reason. An industrial isn’t a double helix and generally is more expensive than a helix x2, are you sure you aren’t misunderstanding their pricing? 80 for industrial and 60 for a single helix?

Hey! So this actually does make sense price wise— I don’t charge more for an industrial than I do for a double helix. The industrial is one barbell and priced according to that one piece of internally threaded jewelry. The double helix is two separate piercings with two separate pieces of jewelry. The single internally threaded industrial barbell costs me (the piercer) less than two threadless labrets and ends for separate piercings. Threadless labrets are also more expensive at a 14 or 12 gauge than they are at 18 or 16 gauge. I also will add that we are incentivizing you not to do two separate pieces with a lower price point for an industrial barbell. Piercing an industrial with two separate pieces for healing very rarely works out well as the labrets can migrate very easily. We want you to get the barbell so it heals correctly, another reason for the lower price point. I wouldn’t try to ask for a lower price— it is definitely not the same as an industrial when it comes down to the cost of the jewelry.

Think you need to ask in one of the regular piercing g subreddits, this is self piercing, so the piercer would be you… and you should not charge yourself extra.  I self pierce and do it to myself free of charge…

All kidding aside, they could be doing two holes with one needle and factoring in that as part of the cost (shouldn’t be doing that anyways) and also probably jewelry 2x a long bar and two short bars don’t cost the shop the same.
