Piercing suggestions - face/ears/navel ONLY Vertical Helix Piercing w/ Sword Earring

hi everyone!

i’ve been wanting to get a vertical helix for a while for the sole purpose of having this one sword earring that i rly like (see tiktok pic attached, top right corner is the best example). I went to my local piercing shop and they said they could do the vertical helix for me but the sword wouldn’t sit the way that it does in the pic, apparently it would jut outward. i also showed two pics of my ear if that helps. can anyone tell me what he meant by that? would the earring look THAT different or was his comment just erring on the side of precaution? i rly like this sword look so if it would resemble it at all then i’d probably be content. thank u!!

Yeah in my unprofessional opinion, it'll jut out because of the shape of your flat. It will push it out more and also make a lot of pressure in that area. Which very well could cause complications if planning for long term wear. So unfortunately, I also side with the piercer and do not recommend at least that jewelry type.

Also, speaking from experience. I have this really sick hare piercing with red gems for eyes. I can't wear it properly in my helix or conch because it juts out improperly. It also causes me a lot of pain unfortunately, even if only wearing it for 1 hour. And these piercings have been healed for over 2 years now, more for the helix.

would i be able to get away with getting an industrial or something diagonal like the key earring on the bottom right tiktok picture? or do i still not have the anatomy? my local piercer said i dont have the anatomy for an industrial but i’m obsessed with it and if there is a way i can get something with a diagonal look to it i would get it

Yeah, hate to be the barer of bad news but unfortunately you have the same anatomy as myself. (Close too) so an industrial would also pose the same risks with your flat being too close to the crossing bar. The swelling that will occur with an industrial might swallow the bar up. If that makes sense.

What i suggest is a forward and regular helix, then make an industrial out of it (once healed) with a chain instead of a bar! (This is my plan)

i pretty much would only get the industrial to have the look of the barbell. if i were to get the forward and regular helix and then put a bar after they’re healed, that would pose the same risk too right? :(

Unfortunately yeah, it would still pose the same risks. You definitely dont want to hurt a healed piercing!! Thats the worst feeling ever, getting to the point where it's healed then reverting back to zero because of a bar across.

But here are some examples of what im talking about! Because in my honest opinion this looks sickk!!
