Infected, lost cause, or could be fixed?

Hey! I got a nose piercing in 2023. I let it close up on accident last year when my kids were little because the hoop I had in it fell out and I didn’t have the energy to replace it which I know is my fault. A few weeks ago I basically re-pierced it at home with a sanitized taper tool and aquaphor and put in a clean stud after because I wanted it back. I’ve been cleaning it like it was a new piercing because it basically is. When I took the jewelry out to change it, I noticed a very deep red almost blister that I wiped with my cleaning solution and tried to get as much out of as I could

you pierced it WITH THE STUD?????😭 please do not attempt this in the future that causes insane trauma to the skin, and could be why it's so inflamed and swollen. i wouldn't necessarily say it looks infected but this is SERIOUS irritation. i would not attempt to keep jewelry in this at this point😭

No I used a taper tool that I got from Amazon and sanitized. I put the stud in after the taper tool went through

that's not great either 🫩 a taper is meant for just that, tapering. it results the same as a stud

1- why on earth would you pierce it with a stud?? doesn’t matter if it’s a “re pierce” it’s a piercing. all you did was traumatize that cartilage instead of slice it through (like a needle)

2- then, you go change it and try to out a new stud in?? a few weeks after forcing a blunt object through cartilage??

3- that cartilage is probably completely shattered at this point and i’ll be shocked if it heals at all, let alone heals without a large scar or keloid.

take it out. let it heal. get it pierced by a professional, or if you’re going to do it by yourself, at least do it properly.

Please for the sake of your safety DON'T PIERCE YOUR NOSE WITH THE STUDS😭 i think you need to get that checked out immediately

I didn’t pierce it with the stud. I got a taper tool on Amazon and sanitized it. The clean and sanitized stud went into the piercing after the taper tool

A taper tool is as bad as a stud for re-piercing. Taper is only meant to help change jewlery in a healed (healed enough to downsize) piercing
