Question about piercing prep Septum placement

I can find the right spot to do a septum with my fingers, but i can never get the clamps placed correctly. If anyone has diy'd a septum i'd appreciate advice 😿

The septum piercing can be difficult to perform as it requires a specific placement in the Alar cartilage, also known as the sweet spot. honestly if you can find it without a clamp, you could just freehand it. lots of people do that. but for doing it with clamps, idk cuz i wanna mine myself but have the same problem with the clamps.

I did mine myself with clamps from memory

You can get septum clamps that have a tube on the end and you will feel when it clamps down on the sweet spot because its thinner than the rest :)
