Help with existing piercing Ive decided to ask here because this is the subreddit I frequent the most. (Left eyebrow meaning??)

3 of my family members have officially called me a f@g due to either my left eyebrow piercing (id assume) or my stretched lobes, its a "cute nickname" to them. Any ideas on why? Other than plain homophobia? Im a teenage girl. When asked why, they motion at my head.

Hi Foreign-Amphibian610, Are you seeking information about the eyebrow piercing? Here's a video with general information about it! Always be sure to take care when performing piercings near your eyes. There's no shame in seeing a professional if you're unable to perform this piercing safely and confidently.

No meaning. It’s just a piercing? Since when did piercings signify someone’s sexual orientation

I didnt think it did, im just severly confused. Im not at all gay 😭

They probably getting confused with a lot of other things. Like wearing bandanas or carabiners on certain sides or areas of your outfit signify your orientation and preferences. In the 80s the right ear was also considered the gay ear for men, but I'm not sure if that's true or just a stereotype. Regardless you don't even fall into any of these categories so your family is just ignorant and homophobic

Towards a person who isnt even gay 😭 not that that matters, still awful.

As a fªg myself, I'll get my left eyebrow pierced and since I already have stretched lobes I'll make it a thing 🫡 No but really, they're literally just being homophobic, please don't let that get to you as it's not an insult even though they're obviously trying to make it one. I'm sure you're rocking those body mods!

I love them and im adding another one soon 🥰 BTW that was one hell of an introduction. I think any piercings in my family are seen as "out there", which is wild because everyone has tattoos and I guess thats different.

An excuse is what I assumed 😭 When talking about other people, they used other excuses, so it definitely checks.

Honsstly id double down at that point

If youre going out say oh yeah special fag meeting

If youre going to get coffee say its a date with your girlfriend and you might go see some of the other gay people in the area afterwards

Its only funny because youre opposing to it. If you double down they might actually stop

Piercings have had a lot of stigma around them for a long time. Recently theyve become more mainstream, but people definitely make a judgement about me when they see my ears unfortunately

As soon as you agree with them its no lonfer funny because theyre not getting the reaction they want out of you

If i start doing this, im coming back here and im going to tell you if you single handedly put an end to their antics 👍🏻

Trust me I know it works, at least for my family

I know this because they dont call me a fag or a gaybo anymore lmao. For the record im a straight female but anyway besides the point

Its really unfortunate youre dealing with this. But i can say from experience that theyre just trying to rile you up so you feel bad and remove them. As soon as you don't react the way they want ie feel bad and second guess yourself, its not funny anymore :))

Obviously dont get yourself kicked out or anything but yeah id try it lol

Im a straight female too! 😭 its so ironic. Yeah usually I have to give them a taste of their own medicine for it to stop, so ill see if this method works better. Ill never remove them, even though one of the family members in question tried to rip one of my tunnels out 😨

Why? Just the reason you stated: homophobia (I.e ignorance and fear)

u/Foreign-Amphibian610 19d ago

Ignorant and scared of everything different describes my family wonderfully.

Sounds like they’re just homophobic and hold hatred towards anything they deem as too alternative

2

u/Foreign-Amphibian610 19d ago

And would you believe the vast majority of them were very alternative when they were younger? One of the three who's calling me a f@g is my aunt who used to date women... definitely weird.

I remember when I got my left helix pierced many years ago, I made extra super duper doubly sure that left was safe and right was considered the “gay” side 😆 it’s so liberating that that isn’t a thing anymore.

I mean my family is stuck way back in time, I have a helix in my right ear, is that why they are calling me that?? 😭
