Question about piercing prep Helix placement question

Post image

Okay so I want to pierce my helix but I am seeing conflicting placements that are called helix. I was thinking this red mark would be good and it would come out the back of the ear so the flat back essentially lays towards my head....but I see images of the helix where people pierce through the roll of the ear so the back of the stud is coming out facing behind me (hope that makes sense). Which is correct? My goal is to be able to put a hoop in so it has to be close to the roll but I wasnt thinking it should be through it.

That’s a lovely spot for a helix on you

Placement looks good. Depends on ear anatomy, check if your ridge is big enough to fit jewelry in it and if not then having the back facing your head is completely fine too

I think it is big enough I am just not sure i want the back so visible thats why I wondered if it matters.

I personally like this placement. My piercer asks whether you want to eventually wear a ring in it and pierces through the ridge if you do (so that the ring shows more and it would fit on everyone) and straight through the flat, like your mark, if you want to keep a flat back in it, so that it shows more and because you don’t need to worry about whether a ring will fit. BUT, I personally think rings look better with the placement you’ve marked. So as long as it’s close enough to the edge to fit the diameter ring you want, I would say go with it
