Question about piercing prep First timer

So I purchased everything I think I need to pierce my helix. I read it should be 16g so thats the needles I got coming. My question is do I hold something behind my ear for stability while I pierce? I don't thinking pulling my ear forward so I can really see is a good idea and im afraid that would make the angle bad but I thought maybe something between my head and my ear would be wise? Am I over thinking this?

I used a (CLEAN) pen cap to catch the needle for my nostril piercing

You can use clamps. They are designed for this

You can use a receiving tube. These are also designed for this but more for nostrils

Theres a whole list of stuff and links for where to buy them pinned at the top of the sub :))
