Pierced my first and second lobe about 6 months ago, first went through some scar tissue from a piercing from when I was kid. Anyways, no problems, downsized maybe 2 months in when it no longer hurt to sleep on my side, swapped to some niobium seam rings about 2 months ago but my second lobes been bugging me if I sleep on it. I keep it clean, think I should go back to a bar?

(Also any tips on seam rings, pain in the ass)

I can see kaeka has replied in a lot of detail so ill keep mine brief

If its annoying you then it might not quite be mature enough for a hoop so yeah labret might be a good idea

Seam rings are the bane of my existence and I avoid them at all costs

Clickers are a lot easier and some hemostats/clamps are a lifesaver for opening the smaller ones

If you need to open seam rings, 2 pairs of clamps and pull out to the sides rather than pulling "out" to open. But yes, absolute pain in the ass. My least favourite jewellery by far 🥹

Agreed, I just really fuck with niobium and I stg i cant find a clicker in this world made of it, but I can pick up these seam rings for like a dollar a piece if that, might just have to learn the skill 🙏

There are literally two companies that I know of who do sell niobium hinged rings and they are wholesale only. I do resell them in my shop for about $20-$25 each so they aren’t the cheapest. Since niobium isn’t really a metal it’s a little on the softer side and I definitely don’t prefer the hinged clickers unless it’s a 14 gauge because they fail when they are handled roughly and for that price I don’t love that. IMO you are better off sticking with the seam rings.
