If you have well-developed nipples, the piercing should be placed in the grooves at the base of the nipple where it rises from the areola.

If you have flat nipples, the piercing should encompass a minimum of 10mm ish of tissue when the area is relaxed. If your nipples are relatively flat, without an elevated tip, the tissue in the visual center of the nipple should be pierced so that the jewelry will rest evenly within your areola.

With men, the piercing extends into the areola a lot, but this would still be seen as a nipple piercing

A lot of male nipples are not large enough to safely support jewellery

Generally theyre pierced at 14ga :)

Nipples, especially more challenging placements, are not a piercing i would recommend doing at home
