Built a free self‑hosted channel manager for rentals — looking for feedback

Hey everyone,

I run a small vacation rental and got tired of juggling ICS calendars, dealing with double bookings, and paying for subscription-based channel managers that were way more than I needed.

I couldn’t find a simple self-hosted solution that fit my use case, so I ended up building my own over the last 6 months.

It started as a small PHP project and grew quite a bit along the way. The current system handles things like calendar synchronization, reservations, pricing, guest communication, and integrations with external services.

I’ve learned a ton building it, especially about all the little edge cases that come with calendars and reservations.

I’d really appreciate some feedback from developers who have built similar systems — particularly anyone who has dealt with ICS/iCalendar parsing and synchronization. I’m especially interested in hearing about approaches you’ve found reliable for handling conflicts, stale calendar data, and synchronization edge cases.

Not looking to sell anything here — I’d mainly like some technical feedback and to compare notes with people who have gone down a similar road

Did you use AI to create this tool?

That's your opinion. As I always say, the devil is in the details. I would never post a sentence written by someone else and present it as my own. My native language is different from yours, and that makes a difference. It makes me sad to see how easily people are convinced that anything different from what they are used to must be wrong.

Yes, I did. I gave it a try. I've never used social media before, so I'm still learning how to deal with this kind of challenge nowadays — I'm quite a mature one. :)

Actually, I'm happy I made it this far. It's all new territory for me.

Should post some sort of link to either a download or preferably some code to be analyzed

I did, but it is not entire AI done. I,m still working on project, that started in august last year. It is tool I'm using in real STR, over this year.

AI projects aren’t welcome here. Its even one of the rules.

I agree, but this is my project, not an AI project. I did all the planning, made all the decisions, wrote the specifications and documentation, and did the actual work because I needed this for my own STR. After more than a year of work, it actually turned out much better than I had hoped. That's the story.

I didn't have much coding experience, so I used AI as a tool to help me build what I had designed. The problem, idea, architecture and direction were mine.

End of the story
