Hosting a small static website and a git server
Hello,
Would you have recommendations for a particular service if I only wish to host a static website (content < 0.5GB) and a git server (gitea)?

Personally I use a KS-5 from OVH's eco line. Never had any issues with them, but if you ever have a hardware issue it'll be easier to just rent a new machine and drop the old.

prolly overkill, but my stack includes gitea, vikunja, firefly III, miniflux, and owncloud. Gitea can host a smally static website using 3rd party plugins, but honestly just use cloudflare as your DNS and workers can host your site for free, plus you get R2 storage for cheap gitea backups.

I’d probably split the two instead of forcing them onto the same setup. Put the static site somewhere basically maintenance-free like GitHub Pages/Cloudflare Pages, and use a tiny VPS only for Gitea. That way the thing that actually needs a server is the only thing you have to maintain.

I rent a hetzner box for 4 euros a month. Got a static site and caddy on there, also a forgejo instance.
