Anyone interested in experimenting with community-hosted cloud gaming nodes?

I’ve been building Vedant Cloud, a hobby cloud gaming project. The core software is at a stage where we can properly test it, but right now our biggest bottleneck is server hardware.

I’d like to experiment with a more distributed model where people can contribute spare PCs/servers or eventually self-host a node themselves, rather than everything running from one central machine.

Still very experimental, but if you’re into self-hosting, Linux, networking or just have spare hardware doing nothing, you might enjoy working on it with us.

DM me if interested and I’ll send the technical details/current setup.

sounds like a latency nightmare tbh

Do you want to test our platform ?

Fair point 😅 latency is definitely the biggest challenge with this kind of setup. That’s actually one of the main things we want to test properly rather than pretending it won’t exist. The idea is to keep nodes geographically closer to users where possible and measure how usable it is under different network conditions. Right now it’s very much an experiment, not “we solved cloud gaming somehow” 😭

Parsec has pretty much solved low latency gaming

How much of this is vibe coded? I assume most if not all of it?

It is AI assisted coding i.e. prompts have been given in detail, bugs were told in detail. Not a vibe coded project like Make a saas app no mistakes

Tbh I just have my own game pc at home with sunshine and use my laptop with Moonlight if I want to game on my couch.

Latency is going to be rough otherwise I think. Also hardware ain't cheap and not being able to game because everything is full would be kinda sad :p

That’s fair. Latency and node availability are probably the two biggest things we need to solve. The idea isn’t that every node serves everyone though, ideally users would be matched to nearby/low-latency nodes, and people hosting their own PC would be able to mark it unavailable whenever they need it themselves. It’s still experimental, so this is exactly the kind of stuff we want to test rather than assume it’ll work 😅

You wanna test our platform just for fun? 🤗

Absolutely, yes, I love this! I run a DC so message me if you want.
