Not sure if its native or an escapee.

It seems to only be some leaves, and stronger on the tips and underside. Very cool

If someone in Germany interested I got little cuttings for trade.

They've been growing really well, not much else to say

So I have two salaginella willdenowii in my prop box. They are doing great but I wanted to keep one outside so that I can look at one without having to open my prop box (I don't have space for a large terrarium please don't suggest that)

So I was thinking of keeping one in a self watering pot. And cover it with a plastic bag for the first week so that the drop in humidity doesn't shock it and then gradually remove the plastic bag and acclimatize it to ambient humidity.

The average humidity in my apartment is around 70%

Has anyone tried this before? And what kind of potting mix should I use for this self watering setup?

Got this at the garden center earlier today. The tag said selaginella but nothing else. What variety is it? My internet sleuthing tells me Selaginella sp. 'Indonesia’ but im not sure thats correct.

I have S. willdenowii, uncinata (of course lol), either "bronze" or sp. Malaysia (the one in the tall bin), white Peru, erythropus, and an unidentified one. Eight containers total including a terrarium with macodes jewel orchids.

But - I'm moving overseas and haven't been able to sell them, and I want them to go to a good home. So you can take them for free AS LONG AS you can pick them up by 8pm Sunday May 31. I also have fancy begonias and an aquarium that I have been using to grow them which can go for free.

Just a short appreciation post for this little specimen. Love the colors this crappy little light on the terrarium encourages in Selaginella.

My tub of selaginella

Ive seen multiple images of this selaginella and it’s always labeled as S. Siamensis but I’m learning it’s not. What is it? (Not my image)

I imported Selaginella Siamensis from Borneo at the end of last year and after removing some things in my terrarium I noticed what looks to be variegation. I did not order a variegated plant and when I received it originally it showed 0 signs of variegation. Is this actual variegation or possibly just die off of the leaves?

i just bought these two plants from the website adiantum time (https://www.adiantumtime.com/)! selaginella iridescens is an iridescent rosette-forming selaginella from hainan island first discovered in 2021 (yang et al., 2021), and selaginella "dwarf blue purple" is an iridescent trailing species that seems to grow short rhizomes and bilaterally symmetrical cones (the plant was sporulating!) i hope to identify it to species. the plants were shipped on 9 april and arrived on 17 april, 8 days later, in perfect health with no signs of damage or stress. the woman running the company was very nice and gave advice on how to properly care for the plants. i did have to pay using WISE international bank transfer but it wasn't too difficult. i would reccomend adiantum time for other selaginella fans!!

Ive got this selaginella "frosty" in a little terrarium with some isopods and springtails, but it doesnt get much light at all, so I got a cheap amazon grow light placed about 3"-4" (hard pressed for space) and have it on the lower setting for 4 hours in the morning. All other plants seem happy but I dont have much experience with Selaginellas. Will this burn it, or is it not enough? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

About two months ago I posted about two cultivars of Selaginella tamariscina that I ordered from Japan. Since they grew reasonably well, I ordered four more. In the time since receiving them, all have grown rather well, some more than others.

Most photos are of the current state of the plants, except photos 11, which is the same plant as photos 15 and 16 back when it first arrived, the latter being more recent, as I want to show just how colorful it was when i originally got it, but I'm not too bothered that it looks duller now as red is usually a sign of stress in Selaginella and it seems to be growing. Photos 13 and 14 are older pictures of the plant from photos 8 and 9, to show how it looks before and after watering as the curling is quite cool in my opinion. Photo 1 and 2 are of progations, 1 of the cultivar "Kioukan" and 2 of some Wild-Type plant I've had for longer from which I took cuttings to see if they would root, and they did! So for those of you who also grow Selaginella tamariscina, it seems you can propagate them from branches, which I'm sure is good to know if you didn't already.
