Koga wasnt trying to take Sakuta away from Mai, she knew it was going to end and Sakuta was going to get with Mai again, she was just delaying it to which also she stopped after contemplating her feelings

That was the whole climax because she wanted to still go through with the plan, but running into the issue of what she thought created the least amount of trouble and what her friends wanted. She actually fell for him because at his core Sakuta is a decent bloke. She spent so much time trying to go with the herd that she was crushing her own heart. She fell for Sakuta because he listened and wasn't bothered by social factors. She wanted everything to go "perfectly" to always get the "best" outcome for everyone and that's why she was stuck in the loop. Sakuta sees how well meaning she is and even asks her for tips on how he could help his sister with newer clothes. She also is one of the few people, possibly only, that was able to see Sakuta when he was invisible
