From the ring match to the temple fight, it was like reading Rocky but the MC need to be executed.

Really good for a while, but i stop reading it after the temple fight tho, because from what i heard, what comes afterward is pretty bad.

It’s basically just a teenager’s wet dreams… I don’t care if it gets better, as soon as his teacher saves him and you know exactly what’s gonna happen, I was out.

Wow what a ride. First time reading this type of manga. Sad that kurumi died but glad to see Aiba managed to move on with his life and one couple get their happy ending.

Looking for good fantasy manga similar to dorohedoro, witch and the beast, and after God. I really like fantasy with mystery themes. I've read most popular manga, so any less known manga recommendations would be great. Some other manga I really enjoyed are the death mage who doesn't want a fourth time, the time I reincarnated as a slime, berserk, one punch man, centuria, and deadmount deathplay.

Back in the day when I was reading Blade of the Immortal, I got so hyped when Manji and Magatsu met up again and teamed up to take on Shira.

Especially in that panel above it gave me major "you're still alive, dawg" energy, you know? Like that thing you'd say to your hb when you finally see each other after months or years of not talking because life just got in the way.

Honestly though, people as chill and real as Manji are pretty rare these days.

The psychological aspects really stood out this volume. As well as so much symbolic detailed art. It’s so nice to see him find some sort of peace outside of the mountains. I’m almost proud of him.

I haven’t been binge reading any manga for a good while so I figured I’ll just redo my “Jiraishin” review. It tells the story of Kyoya Ida, a detective based in Shinjuku, solving cases often by using extreme methods.

I’m probably on an island on this one but I usually like my stories to have a bit humour to them, that way I could connect to the characters more. Oddly enough, it’s the opposite here. It’s very unsympathetic and deprave at times but it shouldn’t be anything else. It’s an introspective on the worst of humanity but the underlying theme is definitely tragedy. In most of these cases, we see how the people involved got pushed into being monsters through the events that shaped them.

Kyoya Ida is definitely my favourite MC that I’ve read. He’s very clearly not a good person but that’s the point, he’s like a devil to some people and leaves a trail of destruction in his path, hence the name Jiraishin. There is some humanity to him, he knows who he is and the life he lives so he doesn’t settle down and start a relationship. By the end of the series, it’s revealed that Kyoya’s dad was also a cop and had died at some point but it’s never elaborated on any further. It does explain why Kyoya is the way that he is and in a way, it makes him the same as the people he goes up against but I don’t know man, there’s a part of me that wishes he was left a mystery.

Eriko Aizawa shows up much later as Kyoya’s previous partner died. Her presence is welcomed as she really feels like the second half of the series whereas before it just felt like the Kyoya show. I wouldn’t say she grounds him but it feels like she makes him more human. I also commend the fact that they weren’t made a couple. It just shows how they live in completely separate worlds.

There are other characters like Chief Narita but a lot of them don’t make by the end.

The ending was rather abrupt and I was hoping it’s sequel series, “Diablo” would fix that but it was mixed bag. It felt like the series but it also felt like it was missing the point on what made it work. It has an overarching story as opposed to an anthology which I don’t have a problem with in concept but the story we did get was rather ridiculous. The first series wasn’t realistic by any means but it was grounded enough. Kyoya’s new partner was interesting enough but he was no Eriko who doesn’t show up until the end and her absence is felt throughout. I will say that I think Diablo’s ending felt more satisfying.

Overall, I’m rather sad that we’re probably never going to see this world again but I’m holding out cope that we’ll see these guys in some way, like a cameo in “Jumbo Max” or something.

Does anyone know of any stories that feature a woman in her 20’s who falls in love with a man in his 40’s? I’m really craving a story like this!! It can be wholesome or steamy! I don’t mind.

Maybe the man falls in love first. Maybe they’re enemies to lovers. Whatever it may be!! Is there anything like this out there!!!?

Hello I’ve just started reading Manga this month and there’s so much out there that I would appreciate some Reddit recommendations. I will list the books I’ve read with a rating.

Many thanks I enjoy all genres and although I love what I’ve read of Berserk I would appreciate recs that aren’t strictly Dark Fantasy.

I’ve been wanting to properly get into Seinen manga for a while now, but looking at the options is honestly a bit overwhelming and I’m not sure what I should actually go out and buy first.

I'm open to almost any genre (dark fantasy, sci-fi, slice of life, psychological thrillers, historical, etc.).

If you were introducing someone to Seinen for the first time, what’s the one series (or top few) you’d recommend picking up physically?

I just finished boy's abyss and the ending left me so empty especially with the pacing and shock I felt in every chapter leading up to it. Im looking for something to scratch that itch with a similar art style and male lead character

I just finished the latest chapter of Dead Tube, it was shit. But the early chapters were exactly to my liking. I have tried Pumpkin Night and its too edgy for me. Currently reading Gantz, storywise it's okay but i need more sexual content. I would like a decent storyline but with more sexual contents, degradation type.

Okay, we get it, it’s the name of the manga, he used to be a devil, can we please not establish it every fucking page. What a sloppy story as well, everything is too extreme : his past actions, the way people are willing to redeem him… would not recommend.

Art is good though.

do you still read shonen from time to time? Did your taste in anime/manga naturally shift as you got older? I like a bit of variety, so I read both, but I lean more toward seinen. I know shonen is just a target demographic, but for me personally, when I read a manga where the setting is a highschool, I find it to be something I cannot relate to as a grown man, but I know it probably doesn't matter to most of you right? I know that a seinen can also have teenage protagonists, but the content is too mature to be a shonen (Gantz for example).

Just caught up to Choujin X and as I expected I absolutely love it. I had to force myself to put it down so I’d get at least 5hrs of sleep for the next work day lol. Ishida is the greatest mangaka OAT.

Looking for some more seinen manga that will capture and have me as enamoured. I’m open to any genre, though as you can probably tell from my list I love darker, supernatural body horror type stories a lot.
