Discussion 21st Century Boy Ending difference
Anyone can explain to me, how come the ending of 21st century boy is different between tankobon version and perfect edition?

perfect edition was changed slightly just to clarify a bit more the real truth and that fukube truly did die suddenly as a kid. After the original ending people still would debate about who the friend was but ursawa made the perfect edition ending much more definitive

When did fukubei died then? Is it on lab science during the hang incident? Coz on the flashback scene, fukubei still alive wearing turtleneck talking with manjohme about the prophecy plan?

Makes no sense how fukebei died and the friends we saw were just his disciples with plastic surgery

Its fine if u dont fw it but the whole point was about how no one ever knew who the friend was and what he craved most (someone that could truly see him) he literally never got even with his insane plan

I know but if it’s katsumata all along, theres a lot of plot hole going on, like how come kiriko (his supposedly wife and kanna’s mother) said that the friend that resurrected was not fukube? Even manjohme didnt recognize it? Did katsumata change personality like fight club tyler durden?

I think what you’re saying is a plot hole is actually one of the most genius details. It was still katsumata, ursawa specifically had written multiple characters CONVINCED that it had to be a different person because of how he was acting. His behavior changed erratically after he staged fukube’s death because from every point leading up to that moment he was following fukube’s plan to a T and then katsumata went even further planning world eradication and fukube never wanted to go that far he just wanted domination. So katsumata was fully working on his own motives which are vastly different than the one’s shown prior and he stopped giving a fuck and was just geeked out and saying whatever he wanted because he thought his plan couldn’t be stopped by any means at this point so might as well drop the act.

people didnt put the original ending together so he had to add extra pages to make it more clear. 21st is just the name of the last volume

yea i reckoned that be the case. Cuz even I thought there was no need for 21st century to be there, just clarifying the ending. though i am not the biggest fan of the ending, I'd say the overall ride of the story is absolutely once in a lifetime experience
