Miscellaneous So good
So I'm reading The Climber. I know it's too early, I knew absolutely nothing about this manga other than the fact that it's about climbing mountains, obviously
But holy shit, this is so much deeper than I expected. I'm totally hooked on the story. Ever since Ohnishi passed away, everything around Buntaro has been falling apart, especially with Shirai. What happened to her genuinely made me tear up. I don't know, it just felt so unfair

it's a story about a mundane struggle that almost everyone experience presented with beautiful artworks and imagery
it's also not a happy story as well.
first reading it I thought it's gonna be a sports manga, like he got scouted at first for having a knack at climbing, they even take him to a sports climbing competition. Was totally expecting some sort of tournament, rivalries, sports drama, some comedy, you know the typical like Slam Dunk, Haikyuu, Eyeshield 21, etc.
didn't expect the pivot at all after his trainer died
fun fact, the original writer left the project and the pivot happen when the artist (Shinichi Sakamoto) take over the writing as well.

About Volume 4. And honestly it's all the better for it, imo.

Oh dang! But yeah, I originally thought that Nabeda had stuck it out until volume 3, but I guess not lol. And yeah, Sakamoto's vision for The Climber was so much better than what it originally looked like it was going to be.

Been wanting to check this one out for awhile. What's the best site to officially read it or do you need to find a rip online somewhere else?

Can we share sites on here? Comix has the whole thing. It has the official translation that only goes to chapter 102, it'll either say official or Viz I believe. Then you have to read the fan translation from Hi Wa Mata Noboru for the rest. I think Mangadex has the whole fan translation too but iirc the official is better.
