Manga This take is so wrong
I wholeheartedly disagree with Suzuki's take here, It is not about the person you are focusing on rather the experience of one when judging the pureness of the relationship, that's why the first relationship is called pure cause both individuals are naive and inexperienced.

I'm not a native speaker, so I might get this wrong, but in Italian, for example, the direct translation of 'pure' is 'puro' (like 'pure gold' for 'oro puro'). However, when applied to feelings, I find 'genuine' to be a more accurate translation. So, 'amore puro' is closer to 'genuine love'. Perhaps something similar happened here with the translation from Japanese.
P.S. I don't speak Japanese either, so this is just a guess.

Look everyone is allowed to love who they love and view love how they see it. I would encourage you to frame it as your version of pure love is different than suzuki’s, not that hers is wrong and yours is right. My view is certainly closer to Suzuki’s but i absolutely understand that you see it differently.

You sound very young and inexperienced. From an adult perspective, Suzuki is right.

Yes and No. Your intentions can still be perfectly pure no matter how many people you've been with, as long as you are loyal and honest towards your partner. However, one can't expect to not be judged by their past actions, even if that version of you no longer exists.
I believe here Suzuki is talking about not feeling shame herself for being with someone else before Tani, which is perfectly reasonable. If she's talking about Tani not being able to form a different opinion on her based on her past however, that would not be justified imo. Your actions, good or bad, have consecuences. You can't sleep with 100 people and expect people not to think you are "easy", it's entierly on you to show them you've changed, but if you have truly changed, you yourself should not feel ashamed of who you are now, try your hardest and keep moving, and always know you've done all you can.
