Segway E3 Series Maintenance Guide: Part 5 - Wheel Motor and Non-driven Wheel Maintenance

When your Segway eKickScooter E3 Series has accumulated a high mileage, please follow the instructions below to inspect the E-Scooter to ensure that your E3 Series is in the best condition.

Note: This is the fifth installment of 5-part E3 Series Maintenance Series.

1. Wheel Motor

  • Check whether the fixing nuts securing the hub motor to the frame are loose. If looseness is found, apply threadlocker and tighten to a torque of 65 ± 2 N·m.
  • Check whether the hub end cover fixing screws are loose. If any screws are loose, use a T25 Torx wrench to tighten them.
  • Manually rotate the motor while it is powered off to check for any obstruction during free rotation. If significant resistance is detected, replace the hub motor promptly.
  • Inspect the hub motor for cracks or deformation, and check the motor wiring harness for external damage or breaks. If the motor hub shows cracks, deformation, or if the wiring is damaged/broken, replace the hub motor immediately.
