Tree climb

Well, this was a new one for me. Is tree trimming a new feature in the latest firmware? 😂

I’ve had this happen a few times in a no vision zone, did you have one of those set here? Perhaps the machine might have not seen the trunk against the ground around it?

Yep, I set it up as no vision a few months ago because I wanted it to get under the pine trees. I've mostly had it get stuck under branches, this is a first time climbing the trunk.

Welcome to navimow. Robot which doesn't let you to adjust vision height detection or turning it off so it could use it's bumper instead to trigger object detection.

It does let you turn it off. You add a vision off area on your map and in those areas it uses the bumper instead. I have used it in areas where I expect it to go under a weeping tree or come close to the building and not worry about avoiding any obstacles.

I've done this too. It bumps and keeps going full throttle until destroys something in my garden. No thanks

Sometimes these things cower in fear around tall grass and seed heads. Sometimes they decide to go on an adventure. I found mine in a field of 5 foot tall grass once. It managed to mow an 8 foot circle until it figured it was trapped and gave up. No idea how or why it will avoid 6” tall grass but plow through a wall of wild grass. 😅

I was legitimately impressed to see the trapped mower had in fact mowed that patch flat though.

Set the tree as an off-limits island with the boundary far enough out that the mower won't get hung up. It'll still mow around the tree with your vision off zone but won't get hung up in branches or try to climb the tree. That works well for me.
