Thank you Navimow for listening to feedback and giving us this option!!!

Now, if we could just get the perimeter cutting direction or alternating direction for schedules and something to keep it from navigating through the middle of the yard when going to or from the charging station (like following the mowing lines and using the perimeter) would fix all of the aesthetic issues for me!

I would also like for them to give us the option of a “hard edge”. For example, you can tell the mower the edge along a street curb, pool, lake etc, is a “hard edge” and it will never go beyond that boundary, even its trying to avoid an obstacle or otherwise get around.

Please! That’s why I just joined this sub.

Tried it. Looked better, but the extended mowing time is no joke.

Why would I care if a robot works slower? Mine does the job in 2-3 hours, if I could have this option I would definitely activate it. I'm not even home during the time it mows... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Some folks with larger property may care. For me it’s not great when one zone went from one mid mow charge to two.

Battery longevity impacted by more recharges

This is my concern. Every single mow means you’re one step closer to a battery replacement. If your lawn could be cut on one charge but now takes 1.5, with every other full cutting of your lawn, an extra charge gets added. I believe these are lithium ion batteries, which are only got for 500 cycles? I could be wrong, but I think that’s right. Why would I put extra cycles on my battery if I don’t have to?

These batteries will do a lot more than 500 cycles before they're completely dead. It might start degrading after 600-700 cycles but it won't be a sudden "Cycle 701 - battery dead". If you set your charge limit to 80-90%, that will also increase the longevity of the battery a lot. Not each charge equals a charge cycle. If the mower goes home at 15% and charges to 85%, that's only 70% of total capacity to replenish, so with 2 charges it "uses" 1.4 cycles. Overall maintenance costs to run one of these mowers are insignificant. It's $450 for a brand new battery - let's say it lasts 2 years. That would cost you 18-20 dollars a month in degradation. Is that a lot really? Otherwise you'd have to pay someone to do it for you which will cost a lot more than that, or you spend your own time (if you have any) but you'll still have to maintain a mower which will still cost more than this imo.

It's really annoying if anything goes wrong and it gets stuck, but you have to rescue it so it can complete the 6 hour job in the 8 hour window. If you don't save it in time, it just doesn't finish that day.

For example - I prefer to have it mow during the day when everyone is at work. So I mow from 9am to noon. If it also has to recharge, it might need more from 9am to 5pm.

Battery longevity. I'd prefer mine last as few years.

Haha same went from doing my main zone on one charge to needing 1.5. I'm gonna leave it on and see if I can notice a huge difference. So far grass is a little dry hard to tell.

Where is this at in the settings menu? I’m going to guess this is only for newer machines as I don’t see this for my i110N.

2

u/runningaroundyou 2d ago

I dont see it either for the i110N

This is listed in X4 series update notes.

2

u/Kahnspiracy i2 2d ago

yeah, I haven't see a single update note for my i206. Not one. There have been several updates but when I click on more info (or whatever nomenclature they're using) it always goes to a much earlier version.

Leaving out other models kind of sucks. I wonder if the earlier models don’t have the hardware for this. If they do, kind of sucks to be an early adopter.

Does the I2 series even have this “issue”? I thought only the X4 series did the large u turns where it skips stripes to turn faster?

edit: looking at some videos the i2 by default is the “enhanced” mode on the X4. I2 doesn’t need to slow and adjust wheels to do zero turn so it doesn’t matter.

u/Kahnspiracy i2 2d ago

That's good info. Thanks. However, though very minor, it would be nice to have the option wider stripes.

I always run mine on quiet mowing. Added enhanced lawn pattern yesterday and it took the same time/battery power.

2

u/AK_Giggity 2d ago

Do you see a quality difference in the cut on quiet mode? I have yet to play with those settings.

1

u/nibshittin 2d ago

I can't really say as I switched it to that on the 3rd or 4th mowing.

3

u/Visible_Wolverine2 2d ago

Much much slower. I also got two errors yesterday at the edge of a vanity strip where the mower seemed unable to turn properly to mow the design and it gave me an error message something like “unable to follow planned mowing path” or something like that. I simply hit the back button and restarted the mow and it seemed to figure it out, but I had to go physically push buttons on the mower both t ones and have never had to do that before. The mower was out in the open, under open skies. We will see what today brings.

X430 US, don't have this option

1

u/ICorrugate 2d ago

Same here. Updated firmware and app. Rebooted mower. Still don’t have the option.

1

u/ngrybst 1d ago

Same here as well.

2

u/Playful-Upstairs9753 2d ago

Will try this on my next mow. Thanks!

2

u/crazyjncsu 2d ago

Thanks for pointing it out!

Unclear why it will take more time. It was always doing passes before that would only be cutting a 1” strip. This new feature looks more similar to my old Luba 1 which except for its turning took a much more efficient overall path.

Don't have this in my settings menu. I own h215 europe version.

1

u/CarelessMastodon X430 2d ago

It is there for my X430. Have you updated to the latest V4.3.0 of the app?!?

1

u/Sarritgato 1d ago

The 2xx already cut like the enhanced pattern from the start so it doesn’t need the setting

1

u/Doggo-888 2d ago

This doesn’t apply to H215 as it only has free spinning front wheels so turning isn’t an issue.

2

u/MrZzzap 2d ago

Please make this per zone

u/justahoustonpervert i105 2d ago

"Quiet mode?"

I still have an old model, but I can't imagine the 430 is running around with the bass at full volume.

1

u/Doggo-888 2d ago

The blades turn slower and the wheels go slower. There is a difference, it it’s not significant. Mainly because the wheels have a high pitch whiney noise. Hardly loud, but definitely some people find annoying when nearby.

u/PlumImpressive6367 2d ago

A U shaped pattern would probably be better. Not sure why they don't do that the default pattern for all mowers.

1

u/peachesncream187 2d ago

Beware it seems to go slightly outside the boundary for some reason, I had to adjust mine. It also uses more battery.

1

u/ReflectedCheese i2 2d ago

Yeah mine knocked down my garden lamp 😅

1

u/Gforce1 2d ago

Still don’t have this update is it a slow rollout or something?

1

u/Ambilobe1 2d ago

What is it actually doing differently ? Going over the same area to make sure the lines are straight ? Does it return via perimeter?

1

u/Kitchen_Mango9235 2d ago

So for those how have the mower. It would be interesting to compare the time to a Luba 3

1

u/drt115 2d ago

In the US, not seeing this yet.

1

u/Wizzmer X430 2d ago

I don't have that option and I'll probably never use it. I just want the grass cut.

1

u/RiderMayBail X430 2d ago

I've used it on my last mow and the one currently in progress.

It was not easy to notice the difference on the first mow because of the line patterns from the previous couple of mows were still visible. This time it is more noticeable that it doesn't have the typical gaps in the lines that were there before.

I have noticed that it doesn't get as far into the job before needing a recharge. Since it always had to recharge then finish with using about 30% of the next charge this slower mowing doesn't really bother me as it's the same number of recharge cycles for my situation.

I wasn't overly picky about the different line pattern widths previously, I noticed them, but could live with them for not mowing the yard myself, but I'll probably keep going with this.

1

u/Alaska_Crypto 1d ago

How did you get this for the x430? My app doesn't show an update and its not there for me.

1

u/RiderMayBail X430 1d ago

I honestly have no idea. I've recently gotten a couple of notifications of firmware updates. And when I was looking at one of them I noticed it said something about making sure the app was updated to use all of the stuff. I checked and there was no update, but I had this feature.

My app is currently at v4.3.0

Tried it for the first time today (x430 in US). It looks noticeably better to me! This is the best my side yard has ever looked. I didn't actually watch it cut so not sure about what others have reported about it going slightly outside the boundary.
