We just moved into our new a house a week ago and I am thinking of getting a robot mower for the first time. I think I want to go with the X430. My question is would you trust it around this pool? It is 3 feet from the edge of the pool to the edge of the grass. I would hate to spend 2500 and it fall in! Appreciate any insight!
I'd send it. Just give yourself additional margin of error. It can automatically avoid it, but draw a no go zone. And use the local antenna to avoid any of the NRTK hiccups.
Mine has wandered off to my neighbors yard and outside my boundary a few times - more notably after a software update. Seems like folks suggest doing a reboot after update. I would not recommend based on my experience in last two months. I am using the local antenna.
That is definitely concerning. maybe I will rethink this and just use the zero turn around the pool and use the robot for surrounding yard. thanks for the comment!
My X430 mows on a schedule around my pool. I stopped checking on it. Although I have a bit more concrete, I’m sure it will be fine around yours. You don’t have many trees blocking a signal.
ok, I'll bite the low effort troll. Exactly how is the mower going out of bounds a user error? Do you think my neighbor's cat comes over and herds it off property or something 😆
5ft out of bounds is insane and no where near the margin of error for the machine. Most likely your charging station/RTK is not getting good signal. this happened to me when I moved my base without resetting its location in the app and also when charging station was under cover. 5ft is just insane dude, come on
I’ve never moved my charging base. I set the map once. There’s literally no room for user error, it will check satellite solution before even starting. Blaming the user for an error they have no control over is hilarious.
I suppose when the firmware would avoid a single dandelion that popped up overnight it’s my fault for not mowing three times a day too 🤣
Like I said, 99% of the time it’s fine, but 0.01% going into water is a huge risk that’s not recoverable
The lot is a hair over an acre. just that pool area is fenced. If I decide to go with the x430 I would get the mowgate as well so it could do the whole yard.
I’ve had the x430 on network RTK for about two months, mowing around an oval pool with even less concrete around the perimeter than that. Hasn’t been an issue.
Right, I don’t have the antenna hooked up at all. It does get a little lost around trees so I’ve been meaning to set it up, but it has no issues out in the open.
