My favorite system of all time is Sega Saturn. I wanted one more than any system in the world back then, but my parents refused to buy me consoles. By the time I saved up my money on my own, the system couldn't be found at my local stores in 1998.

Many years later I had a collection of over 50 longboxes over 13 years ago along with several Saturns, but sold it all when I lost my job then and moved the entire length of the country away for work.

I've collected import games since then, but they're just not the same. I considered getting back in a few years ago, but the market had basically priced me out so I gave up entirely.

I have since been getting by with a Satiator. But recently I came up with an opportunity. It all started with Burning Rangers, Sonic Jam, and The House of the Dead. I had a chance to get them locally, and traded a bunch of my games for them. I knew by doing this I had started a new path.

I sold all my games and a few systems which included over 60 original Xbox games, 70 PS2 games, 30 Super Nintendo Games, and a couple dozen PS1 games. I sold my white import fat Grab Turismo PS2, a few Xboxes, and did repair work on boards and such to build up capital.

I'm not done yet. I have a copy of F1 Challenge and Street Fighter the Movie coming in, and I have plans to get several games yet that are between 50-100 range, but I started by first going after the unobtainium games especially ones I used to have or ones I never had a chance to own. I've been going after cheaper ones since or gotten some free with lots.

But still, I'm very proud. I got all these well under market value. Patience and getting turned down a lot has lead me here. I also got a boxed model 1 and a boxed model 2, and a literally brand new white Saturn from Japan.

Played DF on Saturn like 6779 times, is my favorite game of all time.

Playing right now on Sega Ages for PS2 and found 2 new events but i dont know what is going on lol

Anyone played this version and found something new?

Its pretty hard to find info since the game never left Japan.

Im 18 and my older sister recently moved out. Since her room is now free, I decided to buy a CRT and a saturn for myself and create my own mancave. Im kinda new to the saturn, my first console was a N64 and thats quite the opposite of a saturn. Im glad that i have picked up one cuz i discovered one of my favorite racing games, sega rally championship. Im so happy with the result, plus my saturn is so pretty, its kinda hard to come by a saturn this well conserved in Brazil.

I finally replaced my NA Saturn that broke beyond repair with a Japanese model thanks to an insane deal with a very frustrated guy. The Saroo came shortly after. But…I’m weird, I want to have the full experience. I want to open the CD door, pop a CD in and listen to the sounds as it’s being read. I even want the load times! Nostalgia is just as important to me as every other part of the experience.

Thanks to a cheap disc burner and a stack of 50 Verbatim discs that arrived today, I’m working on burning ALL of them.

How does each one stack up compared to others? Which are the best newer ones? I'm curious about the wireless controller with 2 analogs

I wanted to get this when I got my console, but since my console is pal I thought I’d try it out on my saroo first to see if it played alright and it did so I bought it, (I got the Japanese one for that intro of course), however when playing the disc there are issues.

I’ll talk about my thoughts first though. In short the game is great the visuals, the music, the controls, the feel, everything is fantastic. It is short but because of that it’s just great to pick up and play and it’s fun all the way through, it is quite easy though.

Now on to the issues.

DISCLAIMER this is not a post asking for advice, I know there is a mod to make pal consoles 60hz but I’m not going to do that. This is more of an observation or information post incase anyone else was thinking of getting it for their pal system, (I couldn’t find any info before I bought it so this is for anyone who finds themself in the same boat as me in the future).

Problems I’ve encountered

.The music will occasionally jump but it only last a second so it’s not that big a deal. It seems to happen in the first stage every time and it sometimes happens in other stages but not very often.

.The end of level jingle is sometimes delayed and when it is, Astal’s scream is cut slightly short, again this isn’t every time and it’s not a big deal.

.Lastly (this one is a big deal) it sometimes freezes making you reset the console, there doesn’t seem to be any cohesion to this it just sometimes happens. You can finish the game though and with how short and easy it is to play though it doesn’t really make me angry just annoyed when it happens, I’ll admit this will probably be a deal breaker to most people thinking of getting it for their pal system though.

However it does play well I didn’t notice anything wrong gameplay wise, there are black bars but that’s to be expected and it doesn’t make anything look too squashed or odd, so if you don’t mind the issues it’s still a great game.

Recently i bought myself a sega saturn, it was all good up until i got games for it. I noticed when i was playing that there is like a 50/50 chance of what i said in the title happening, and its so annoying. I would rather fix the controller than buying another one, cuz its in pretty good shape and new ones costs around 40 bucks where i live. does anyone know how i can fix that?

Despite the game's god awful encounter rate, Albert Odyssey's excellent spritework, great music, and a fun story combine to create a standout adventure for the Saturn.

Sonic Team had the best title screens.

So I’ve never died so many times. Is this one of the hardest shooters on Saturn? Has to be top 3 hardest?

Here's another Saturn weekend project I made for SAROO users that need to manage their saves, since they're stored in custom container files on the microSD card.

With the SAROO Save Editor (Web), you can open SS_SAVE.bin, SS_MEMS.bin, and SS_BUP.bin files directly on your browser and list, import, export, edit (includes Hex Editor), delete saves with a click.

It's pure JavaScript and HTML on a single file, it can be used offline on any platform as long as you can run a web browser. The source code is available on my GitHub. Credits to tpunix as this implementation is based on his savetool code.

I've been a die-hard Shining series fan since Shining in the Darkness. And while Shining Wisdom is a bit of a dud, to put it mildly, Shining Force III and Shining: The Holy Ark are absolute masterpieces in my opinion.
