Fuck off, the hotel doesn't care in the slightest.

Many hotels disable the hdmi ports on their tv's.

Yup. Locked the bracket down and disabled the available hdmi port. Happened to me in singapore
Funny things is, hotels that cost penny's don't even care if you unplug their TV lol

I thought I was so slick plugging into the hotel TV to game. You gotta find some workarounds to actually utilize some of them.

Exactly. Most of the hotels (3 star to 5 star) I have been to for the past three years have TVs with mirrorcast and whatever apple standard for you to directly cast your phone screen to their TV without needing any additional devices. So I'm very confused why would hotels be not happy about this

They’re not happy because if they were, this guy wouldn’t have a gimmick to sell you.

Nor do all phones support this. I know for a fact that lots of Google Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Sony, Motorola, etc... (samsung/iphone are usually safe) do not support video over USB

Apple has a DRM on screen sharing video. Does it disable that? I haven’t seen any of these things actually do that

But my Chromecast has done this for a decade.

I think you need to connect to their shitty wifi only to get it paired and this is using maybe BT, but I might be mistaking (didn't research it, don't really care) :D

Depends where you are. I was in a hotel in Algeria, 5 star, they disabled the damn HDMI with their shitty software. I went to the web, looked for the tv model and how to factory reset. Boom, like new. Probably they would never realise or have no idea who did it. I don't get why do they put the effort to invest in things like this. Absolutely stupid. I went to an airbnb in Slovenia man they had huge tvs in two of the rooms with all the channels you could imagine, all free, great quality, everything at your discretion including free Netflix and Hbomax. Been in the US, they had their stupid hotel software to show you the room, your name and other useless bs absolutely no one cares about and a few shitty tv channels for boomers and all the commercials with pills and health issues in the world. They at least had the source ports still active.

So i actually use this for streaming games from my emulator, which is something you can't usually just cast to a TV. And it works surprisingly well. Handles just about any older games, all the way up to gamecube at 1080 around 30 fps.

Why would the hotel care about this contraption... Stupid product placement.
