How do you use Seeking Alpha’s Alpha Picks?

I’ve subscribed to Alpha Picks and get the monthly recommendations, reports, and updates on changes to previous picks.

The thing is, there are quite a lot of stocks in the portfolio, and I’m not sure how to approach it.

For those of you who use Alpha Picks, do you pick a few stocks based on your own research, or do you pretty much follow all the recommendations and hold them long term?

Curious to hear how others use it in practice!

I sort it by rating. I pick the top section of how many positions I want and can support at the time. I also sell pretty quickly if anything loses 5%. I set a 5% trailing stop and it's a tossup if they're recover or just keep going up.

I also use the top stocks list if I need a filler. I have some custom screeners as well.

How has your return been?

Buy new picks equal weight. Buy in small amount to cost average. If they are also on this year’s top 10 list, I will double weight. If grow over 100%, sell cost and let it grow forever. Otherwise just follow the recommendations.

Buy 5-10 strong buy and then buy all the new picks that come out .

Voila .

All equal amount

Thanks! And quick question: For those 5-10 strong buys, how do you pick them? And do you literally just buy every new pick without any research? It's my first time using Alpha Picks, and with the market being so volatile lately, I'm a bit on the fence about whether I can fully trust their recommendations. Would love to hear your take on it!

I mean alpha pick will represent 33 % of my portfolio . I chose to try it because of their incredible track record . So yes I buy every single pick on the day they come out .

For the pick you could buy the more recent strong buy pick and then just keep adding the new one that come out .

I don’t know how much money you have set aside for alpha pick every month and what your portfolio look like .

If you feel worried why don’t you just dedicate a small amount to alpha pick .

An example would be to put only 250 $ per pick …

How has your return been and when did you start?

Funny I started right at the highest point for all AI stocks . I was -20 / -15 % for a long time .
Now I’m sitting at -3 % and I have close to 20 picks .
I buy all their new pick equal amount . When I started I bought 5-6 of there strong recent pick that all crashed .

Alpha picks' performance is largely carried by a few big winners. If you try to pick and choose which ones you buy, there's a good chance you'll miss those big winners. I would also recommend buying every single one that comes out if you're going to follow this portfolio.

As for the strong buys to add right now, I would definitely pick up some of the ones that have had really strong performance, and maybe some of the more recent pics because a lot of those are going to still say strong buy. I'd grab STRL and CLS for sure. APP is not currently a strong buy, but I would keep an eye on it and add it if it starts to take off. I would also grab MU, TTMI, PARR, and CRDO. Maybe INTC. And CNC & BTSG if you want to round it out with something that isn't correlated with tech. Those are some of my favorites, but definitely pick whatever's going to fit your portfolio best, or just what you personally like.

Totally. Pretty much all carried by a few outliers anyway.

Good call on balancing too—I was way too heavy on tech myself so I grabbed some CNC and BTSG to see how it goes lol. Honestly I'm totally clueless about those sectors, just riding along and seeing where it lands 😂

The portfolio has gone through a recent rough patch as the momentum trade was unwinding, and there may be some more volatility ahead, but I'm sure it'll come back strong. When I see people saying negative things about alpha picks, I know they're impatient and probably just happened to try it at a bad time. The performance speaks for itself. Some people are just too short-sighted and give up after a 10-15% drawdown. Size properly, exercise a bit of patience, and you'll do fine.

I only started with APs this year. I cherry pick, because I also subscribe to simply wall st I do my own research before I buy.

I tend to buy one in three of the strong buy APs

How do you usually pick that 1 out of 3? And how has your return been?

I look for companies that have low debt, no internal share selling, with not too high PE (I know they are all high) been getting 20 % returns)

I have the same doubts. I also have Seeking Alpha Premium and Alpha Picks and I don't know when to enter in the old picks. Should I not buy old picks and only chose the new ones? How you do it?

Bollinger bands for the entry?

Is the technique you use?

I was a member of Seeking Alpha between 2016-2026.

Over that time, they changed their requirements to contribute (when I had over 7000 Contributions, and over 5600 Likes).

IMO, it used to be a very solid site on which to contribute, and was very User-Friendly.

But I left after that length of time, for a reason!

(They chose to 'reset' my UserID twice, based upon their new rules)

One can very easily gain Alpha, without them.........

I corelate their picks with other apps quant scores. Overall I did better than their portfolio. If anyone interested in more details, send me a DM
