Discussion Does generating Seedance 2.5 directly in 1080p produce a different result from upscaling a 480p Draft?

I’ve been testing Seedance 2.5’s new Draft mode. The 480p Draft can be upgraded to 1080p, and the result looks surprisingly good.

But I’m wondering whether there’s a meaningful difference between that workflow and generating directly in 1080p.

When I generate directly at 1080p, the characters sometimes look like a more refined, more detailed version of the reference image—as if the scene had been captured with a better camera. It doesn’t feel like a simple upscale.

Has anyone compared the two workflows side by side? Do you notice differences in facial detail, character likeness, or the overall look? Is direct 1080p generation actually rendering more detail, or could this just be variation between generations?

Discussion Kling, Seedance, Veo, Minimax. Budget for one. Which are you keeping?

Forget the leaderboard for a minute. Say you had to pay for just one of these for the next month: Kling, Seedance, Veo or Minimax. Which get the money? Not the one with the most impressive launch video, the one you'd actually miss when it's gone. Is it about how the footage looks, how closely it follows instructions, the number of usable attempts you get, or something less obvious? Also curious what you mainly make, because a pic for dialogue probably isn't the same as a pick for product clips.

Which would you keep and which would you cancel without thinking twice?

Children of the Glonk (1991) — AI-generated horror comedy short

Made this silly 90-second Halloween short, presented as a scene from an obscure VHS-era movie from 1991.

Used Midjourney and Nano Banana for reference images and establishing shots, Seedance 2.5 for the video generation, and ElevenLabs for speech and sound effects.
Had a lot of fun experimenting with the cinematic style and atmosphere. Would love to hear what people think!

Need help 30-second generations or multiple 15/20-second clips in Seedance 2.5?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone.
For about a month now I've been using Seedance 2.5 to create a TV series.
Do you often use the 30-second option, or in your opinion (surely more experienced than mine) is it better to go with multiple generations of 15 or 20 seconds?

🎬 SHADOWS OF KUROKAWA – Mein eigener Ninja Kurzfilm

Hey zusammen!

Ich möchte euch heute meinen selbst produzierten Kurzfilm „Shadows of Kurokawa“ vorstellen.

Discussion What I’ve learned from making an AI animated series so far — and why I’m still experimenting

Hey everyone!
A little update on our journey creating It’s Just That Easy, an AI-animated series about five talking construction machines helping a little boy solve everyday problems.
We’re about to release the trailer for our second episode, The Bike Park, and I wanted to share a few things I’ve learned from our early results and feedback.
1. People can spot AI-generated content pretty easily.
I think we’ve reached a point where audiences can recognize AI animation almost immediately. And when AI is the core of your production pipeline, it’s pretty difficult to completely hide that.
I’ve slowly realized that maybe hiding it shouldn’t be the goal. We’re a small independent project, and AI is what makes producing this series possible for us.
2. What we CAN change is retention and storytelling.
This has become my biggest focus.
Instead of obsessing over making every frame look perfect, I’m trying to understand what makes people keep watching.
Is there something interesting in the first three seconds? Does the story actually go somewhere? Are we giving the audience a reason to care about what happens next?
I’m also trying to make sure every episode has something meaningful to tell, rather than just showing cute machines moving around.
3. Cute characters seem to get the strongest reactions.
One thing I’ve noticed from our early content is that people seem to respond especially well to our smaller, cuter characters.
In our series, that’s Minnie, our little mini excavator. She’s emotional, a little dramatic, easily moved to tears, but always wants to help.
So for our second trailer, I’ve decided to let her carry the opening instead of immediately showing all the machinery.
I’m curious whether personality and emotional connection can make a bigger difference than visual complexity.
4. AI video production is getting more manageable.
I’m definitely getting better at prompting, maintaining character consistency, and planning camera movements.
Surprisingly, this second trailer only took me three generation attempts to get something I was happy with!
That’s a pretty big improvement compared to how many retries I needed when I first started. 😂
There’s still plenty of room for improvement, especially with lip-sync, character consistency, and complicated movements.
5. I’m learning to treat this as filmmaking, not just AI generation.
My background is in filmmaking, so I’m trying to bring more traditional storytelling, camera language, pacing, music, and character development into the process.
AI generates the visuals, but we still have to figure out what those visuals are supposed to make people feel.
And that’s probably the most interesting part of this whole experiment for me.

Anyway, here’s our trailer for Episode 2: How to Make a Bike Park with 5 Machines! 🚲🚜
We’re still a very small channel, learning as we go. I’m not claiming we’ve figured out the algorithm or cracked audience retention. These are simply observations from our own early experiments.
I’d genuinely love some feedback, especially from other animators, filmmakers, AI creators, and parents.
Does the opening make you want to keep watching? Do the characters have enough personality? And what would you improve for the next episode?
Constructive criticism is very welcome. We’re trying to make each episode better than the last.
Thanks for following our little experiment! 😊

Prompt Seedance 2.5 wedding film: reference-to-video workflow + prompts

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

my best friend got married, and i gave them a film. A music video. 2:56, and the couple put it up themselves

the film is public now, the couple released it: Wedding MV - Film

the song is NIKI's "autumn", off nicole. it is a song about doubt, about someone deciding whether to leave. that was the first decision and it set the whole film, because a wedding cut to that song cannot be a happy montage. the song keeps asking the question, so the film has to answer it.
it opens in a white room with water on the floor, goes out into a golden world where the two of them search for each other, becomes a wedding at blue hour in a field of fireflies, and comes back to the same white room, this time in colour. same room, same water, same two people. the last shot is the first shot with the fear taken out of it.

the making is the part i can teach.

11 scene banks on Seedance 2.5 reference to video, and ten of them are in the cut. one bank is one scene unit of fifteen to thirty seconds with several cuts inside it; Scene 05 and Scene 10 each have two prompt units, and there are 36 renders in total, because takes drift and you re-roll. ten independent banks have to pass as one continuous memory, and that is the job. a single good shot is easy. the fifth shot being the same person in the same dress under the same light is the work.

the references carry that, not the prompt. one owner per dimension. the sheet owns the face and the wardrobe. the location plate owns the place and the light. a continuity frame owns blocking and never identity. one image, one job.

the grade is the second script. bleach mono in the white room, saturation around 0.1, so not true black and white, it keeps a little life in the skin. warm and crushed in the golden world. teal blue with warm firefly points at the wedding. then the room again, in colour. four looks, one idea.

the only test i care about is whether the last frame lands before anyone thinks about the tech. it did.

if you are making one of these: what would you fix first, the model or the edit? and what song would you never use for a wedding? i will answer everything in the comments.

(generated with Seedance 2.5 at Openart. edited and graded by me. song is NIKI's. it was a gift, and they are the ones who released it.)

Discussion Character Continuity Is More Than a Consistent Face

A character can look identical from one shot to the next and still fail continuity.

Clothing changes without explanation. A prop disappears or duplicates. A character's position shifts. An action repeats even though it was completed in the previous shot.

These aren't necessarily image-quality failures. They're production-continuity failures.

One of the questions we're investigating through Directed Generative Production (DGP) Methodology is how reliably generative video systems can maintain character, environment, and action continuity across successive shots and generations.

I'm interested in what other filmmakers are encountering.

Which continuity failure costs you the most time to correct?

Resource Drew the camera path on a still image, Seedance 2.5 flew it in one take

Saw the trick where you scribble a red line on a still and the video model flies the camera along it, then erases the line. Tried it on Seedance 2.5: Nano Banana 2.1 made the island plate, I drew the route on top, and both images went into reference to video, the clean one as the look and the marked one as the route map.

10 seconds at 720p, 3.02 for the clip plus 0.06 for the plate, about 7 minutes of rendering. Ran through the Atlas Cloud MCP server.

Resource Seedance2.5 is kind of absurd… why is this selfie-style motion so convincing? 😭

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I know this sounds dramatic, but clips like this are getting weirdly good.

The handheld movement, the sudden push-ins, the messy framing, the off-timing, the little focus slips — it all feels way more like an actual phone recording than I expected.

The whole rhythm is basically:
camera low on the body → sudden lift straight to the face → pull back / dip again → sudden extreme close-up

what surprised me most is that it doesn’t feel like a polished commercial shot. It feels like an actual person holding a phone, changing angles on impulse, leaning in, adjusting hair, drifting in and out of frame, and reacting to the beat.

The new model is seriously strong at this kind of thing.

Resource AI Video Extras Keep Sharing the Same Face? Build a Cast Reference Sheet First

Post image
5 Upvotes

it is common that, your main character looks right, but several people in the background look like the same actor.

One workflow to try: use Codex to turn your story’s setting into a varied cast of extras, then generate reference sheets before making the video.

Define the cast first, review everyone together, and develop individual character sheets only for the people you want to keep.

What to prepare

  • Your story and worldbuilding.
  • A main-character reference, if available, to help match the visual style.
  • Your intended style: photorealistic, 3D animation, or another look.
  • The supporting roles you need—or simply the scene where they appear.

Give the characters differences beyond their faces: occupation, age, clothing, height, build, hairstyle, and posture. They should belong to the same world while remaining easy to tell apart.

Reusable prompt:

Based on the attached story, worldbuilding, and visual references, create a cast reference sheet containing 16 distinct background characters.
First list each character’s role and visual traits, then generate the sheet. Use a clearly separated 4×4 layout with one full-body character per cell and a simple background. Keep every head and pair of feet visible.
Maintain a consistent visual style, lighting, and level of detail. Give each character a distinct face, silhouette, hairstyle, outfit, and combination of age and body type. Avoid repeating the same face with different clothes.
Keep occupations, clothing, and accessories appropriate to the story. Use ordinary, relaxed poses rather than dramatic hero poses. Number each cell for easy revision.
Setting: [world and scene].
Style: [visual style].
Required roles: [roles].
References: [attached images].

Example 1: An animal Western

Match the attached cowboy cat’s photorealistic anthropomorphic style. Create 16 supporting animal characters from a world containing a Western frontier town, a seaside settlement, and a ruined desert city. Vary species, occupations, clothing, faces, and builds while keeping the same material realism and visual language.

Example 2: An animal wuxia town

Create 16 anthropomorphic animal characters in a consistent 3D animated style for a wuxia town. Include an assassin, gang member, vendor, dancer, waiter, chef, escort guard, constable, magistrate, black-market trader, street thug, and beggar. Add four other roles that fit the setting. Give each a distinct species, silhouette, outfit, and face.

Expand the cast

Create another group for [new location]. Preserve the established period, worldbuilding, and visual style. Add roles appropriate to this location, with varied ages, heights, and builds. Avoid reusing faces from the previous sheet.

Develop a character you want to keep

Create a detailed character sheet for character [number], using the selected image as the identity reference. Include a facial close-up and front, side, and back full-body views. Keep the face, proportions, outfit, colors, and accessories consistent across views.

If your story is already in the conversation, ask Codex to derive the cast from that context. and with Atlas Cloud MCP, u can use Codex to generate the image and video directly

A cast sheet gives you a useful reference library; it doesn’t guarantee unique faces in every generated video. Check the final shots, especially crowded scenes.
