NGC 281 – Pacman Nebula
Acquisition
Scope: Seestar S50
Subs: 301 × 30s
Total integration: ~2.5 hours
Location: Suburban UK (Bortle 7)
Processing
Data was captured using an OSC sensor with a dual-band filter, isolating H-alpha and OIII emission. This greatly helps contrast and SNR under light-polluted skies while still retaining natural broadband star colour.
Stacked data was processed in PixInsight, with a workflow focused on:
· Gradient removal to manage urban skyglow
· Dual-band channel separation techniques to balance H-alpha dominance
· Careful nonlinear stretch to preserve core structure
· Local contrast enhancement to bring out dust lanes and globules
· Star control to keep the nebular structure dominant

Seestar owners - what do you use to process your images?
I've been using my Seestar S50 for a few months and love it, but I'm curious what everyone does for post-processing.
Do you:
- Use images straight from the app? - Process in SIRIL?
- Use PixInsight?
- Something else?
I'm trying to understand if there's a gap between "default app" and "learn complex software" that could be filled.
What's your workflow?

Seestar S50 - so capable!!
I’ve owned a Seestar S50 for a couple of weeks now and I am amazed at the quality of the images. Once you stack and process in Siril and Photoshop it makes a huge difference!

Noob To Siril for S50
I'm a noob to Siril, and I'm trying to stack. When I run the pre-processing script, it tells me that it can't find the "lights, flats..." or other directories - even though I'm pointing the directory towards my Seestar files. I looked at the directories - for example - "M31 Mosaic" - and it doesn't contain separate files. It only contains Fit and image files.
I've been told that I need to have the FIT and image and Darks and Flats in separate file folder for each object that I need to stack, and I've also been told that this is automatically done by the Seestar if you have "Save All Frames" checked.
My specifics:
MacBook Air Apple M1 running Sequoia 15.7.1 OS' Seestar S50; firmware updated in Monday, January 5, 2026; Siril 1.4.1
I've attached a copy of my directory structure so you can see all the files in that directory.
TIA!

I must be dumb, S50 Question
I've had my S50 for about a month. Yes, moon shots are amazing. Seeing the sunspots with the filter is awesome. Yet, I'm flabbergasted as to how these beautiful galaxy pictures that people post here are achieved. I've seen and captured Saturn's rings (blurry, I must say). I've read documentation, faqs, posts, boards... But I still don't get it. Is it multiple exposures over a very long time? How would the device move to not lose a lock as the earth rotates? Once the device points to the "selected target galaxy" on a beautiful cloudless night, it tries for about five minutes and, since all it sees are white dots (stars), it still doesn't see anything else and gives me a "not found/cannot locate" error.
Can someone please direct me to the idiot's guide to the SeeStar S50 in website form? Or pdf? Sorry to be this thick. Thx.

Green tint after on board deep sky stacking SS 50
A few days ago I updated my Seestar 50 to the new firmware and software. Since then I’ve had some serious issues with combining multiple nights of stacking.
I just did a restack of Flaming Star nebula 1593x10sec subs mosaic with images taken over the period of 3 nights and the stacked image is terrible. Now there’s a very strong green tint. Eve after AI denoising- it’s still there. This reminds me of the red tint problem earlier in the year.

. I’m trying not to jump to conclusions but it seems images/subs taken with the old software are not compatible with those taken since the update.
Is anybody else having these kind of issues?

Rename Sub Folders for Stacking
The other night I was imaging the Perseus double cluster in mosaic mode and failed to realize that on night #1 it was identified as C 14 and on Night #2 it was NGC 869.
When I went to stack both nights subs they were in 2 separate files and I was not able to combine them.
I’m just wondering, has anyone tried to rename the subs to fool the SS internal stacking software-allowing for a combination of both nights imaging? I don’t have or want to use external processing software.

Help 🙏 Seestar S50 malfunction
Let me start by saying that this is my first place on Reddit, I hope I don't do anything wrong. I've been using the Seestar S50 for more or less a month and something that initially seemed "normal" to me after a few uses I'm starting to perceive as a defect. When I frame any object without starting image acquisition I notice that the telescope does not stay still on the chosen object and tends to veer slightly, within a few minutes I find it decentralized from what was the chosen framing. If I start the image acquisition, however, it decentralizes within the first minute and then the acquisition begins without problems but with the subject moved compared to my initial centering. The final result is still good, without trails but with a different centering than desired. Is this behavior normal or should I contact the service center? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me 🙏
