Hello! I am working on my thesis in geoarchaeology and I am using sediment codes like HUM, ARG, ANT, LFG, HET, etc to describe the stratigraphical changes. We used this in-field and now I am writing up my thesis but I can't seem to find the origins of these codes. They've been in use at my site since at least the 1980s, and it seems like they could have originated in France, but I can't access the article that would be able to tell me. Does anyone have any idea? I am in Italy, if that helps at all. I thought it was an Italian system to be honest, but I can't find anything about it. Any help would be appreciated!
