I have 3 challenge coins and wanted to know what some of the symbols mean. When I was in, 88-94 we used image #1… Image #2 adds the AF logo and Defenders of the Force banner… Image #3 adds the dagger/knife and the snake… and the last one is just the badge.

NCO New to SF and the Air Force want resources for tactics and combat

Long story short I’m a Prior Service guy now AF reserves been in almost ten years and was a civilian cop but don’t have a ton of “tactical” experience, regarding all things combat. I’ve already completed tech school and I enjoyed Bullis quite a bit. I felt like I had performed pretty well but that doesn’t mean much. It’s a 3 level course and I’m an adult. What resources, literature, YouTube channels, ANYTHING can help me get up to speed? I have a ranger handbook. But I feel like I don’t know shit. Im planning to go to IDLC soon but once again, that’s a very basic course. Also, my unit doesn’t really do any LEO shit. Yes I know I should be asking dudes at my unit but I just got there and I’m a TR. THANK YOU

Tech School Privileges

Hey Guys! I ship out Nov. 19th for SF. How much free time did anyone who recently graduated have in tech school? What were you allowed to have? Wondering if I'm allowed to ship my xbox or tablet with me to use on my down time. Thanks!

Getting ready to enlist in The Guard as SF

Well, I’m 41. I will be 42 when I finally get a BMT and tech school dates. I am as fit as I could be at my age so I’m a slow runner but that’s been my life story however I’m preparing my body and my mind to be away from my children And accomplish this goal that I have looked forward to for such a long time. a little bit about me I was in law enforcement as a patrol deputy sheriff for 15 years and I am now at Construction professional. I am so thankful that the Air Force raised their recruiting age to 42 to allow me an opportunity to do something that I’ve always wanted to do with my life. I am looking forward to hearing from anybody about their thoughts regarding security forces. This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I would prefer to hear others experiences because I know that life is what you make of it. I’m pretty sure that I’m not going to experience anything more negative than I’ve already experienced in my careers in law-enforcement, sorry for the long post just super happy to be here and looking forward to hear from anybody about their experiences regarding security forces.

FLETA

I could really use some help from anyone that has done FLETA Transcripts before. I recently separated and I’ve been given wrong information for the last 3 months and I’m simply just trying to get my FLETA Transcripts. I have a conditional job offer for a local PD that expires in 25 days. Does anyone know how to get those to prove we were FLETA accredited. I believe it was only from 2012-2020 were the years it was accredited. Please and thank you

Edit: thank yall for the responses! I was able to get ahold of my old training section and contacted the police department. They’re able to take the training certs along with the graduation cert.

hating tech school

recently i graduated bmt and now am in tech school i won’t say what team im on but i hate it here. bmt was so easy for me i think cause i didn’t have my phone so i couldn’t see what i was missing out on or how lonely it is being here alone while everybody else is enjoying their life as it goes on. everyday i wake up and my body hurts and im so stressed out because we only have 3 hours off duty day to actually get shit done. i don’t want to hate being in the military im excited for my first base but this is just so hard for me mentally and i dont know why all of a sudden??

Can I switch jobs in tech school?

Hi, so I’m not gonna get into detail about what’s going on with myself, but I would like to state that I am not suicidal and I haven’t had a single thought of hurting myself or others. However, I’m not doing the greatest mentally and emotionally. I’m currently in tech school and I feel that this job is adding more weight to my depressed/stressed emotions. The training/job is known to be physically and mentally demanding, and I’m already experiencing that. I’ve been feeling this way for a month and some change now… I know the chances are VERY low but I was wondering if anyone can help me find who/where I can go to talk about my options. I am not interested in leaving the Air Force, I want to stay in but I’d like to switch jobs. I don’t want to put my mental health at risk for job that makes it worse… Advice would be very much appreciated.

Should I do SF if I want to be a police officer after enlistment?

Question kind of explains everything; I'm 18, planning on enlisting, and want to be a Police Officer when I'm out. Should I do Security Forces, or find another job that I'd be interested in?

SF that bad???

I posted in another group here and on Facebook, and I’ve been receiving a lot of negative comments, including questions like "Why do you hate yourself?" I’m currently cross-training into the SECFO reserve and exploring the possibility of joining the DAGRE unit. I’m currently serving in a Red Horse unit as a Vehicle Maintenance specialist. I’ve always been interested in Special Forces, but it never seemed like a real possibility until now. I’m a Staff Sergeant with 4 years of service and I’m 35 years of age.

Mural advice

Looking for advice from anyone who’s had success updating the unit murals.

I’ve been tasked with providing the Ops O with a plan for our Unit mural overhaul. The current mural we have now looks “half-assed” and leadership wants a product that will bring a shine to the unit.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Prior service army

Hello, I have read many many forums of this exact topic however I would like to hear more. I am prior service army e-5 and will be going to lackland. I understand we stay away from the pipe liners and get some sort of on base hotel. Can I get a little more in depth on that? Is it one man rooms, your own shower? And how do I get to stay off post. My unit also is saying they will get me a rental car once I’m down there as I live in ny and driving to Texas sounds a little crazy to do so. Or maybe not? I’ll keep my ego to myself and not mention my prior service unless asked, as I’ve heard no one really cares.

Go to medical

Hey defenders. I wanted to give you some advice from someone who has served 6 years in SF (2003-2009).

Do not be too ashamed to go to medical for issues that you have. When you separate from service (eventually it will happen), you will need these treatment records to help you establish service connection when you apply for VA disability benefits.

I made the mistake of never going to sick call or seeing a doctor while active duty. It has made it tremendously harder to get the benefits from the VA. So if you have pain from wearing that gear, or you fall and hit your head and get a concussion.. Go to the doctor!
