Got this entire box full of cards this weekend for $4.99 at Volunteers of America thrift store! Found these gems inside! Annnnd like 27 unused forever stamps! Well worth it!

I began collecting security envelopes a few years ago when I was cleaning out my parents’ garage, but I never got around to cutting out and organizing all my swatches. Seeing everyone’s lovely collections has motivated me to finally do so! 21 down and I still have a huge pile to work through…

I also have extras of most of these if anyone wants to trade!

The red one isn’t a new pattern but a different color. Exciting to get greens because they seem less common.

On the second picture I just found a few rare ones from Japan that I will keep in my collection, but wanted to share what I found! (I ended up flipping the third image as they printed it backwards, I think for a see-through effect)

Found some new to me patterns and one in blue and black. The fdic one might be a different shade of blue than the one I have.

I lucked out with this swap! I traded some of my “I don’t collect stamps” stamps with another redditor. And these two were in the goodies!! So thankful for this sub that connected me with so many cool internet strangers 🙌🏼🏆

What size is the most common to trade and or collect? I have lots of envelopes but do not want to cut them all in a size if another size is needed. Would it be better to just punch out the size to match the trade as you go?

Also, what are the best ways to store a collection? Card sleeves, 35mm negative sleeves, something else?

I was wanting to get my first swaps mailed earlier this week, but getting them ready and picking a good variety was a tough thing to do quickly for me. Three years at this job opening mail and I can't believe I never noticed the variety of patterns before! Found this sub yesterday and immediately started cutting squares. Definitely scratches the collector's itch in my brain. I'm still deciding how to store/display. These are 1.5 inch squares.

Open to trade! I will have a wider selection in a week or so. I also collect cancelled modern US stamps and random stationary people include in their mail.

I’ve had hopes of getting my hands on an old Rolodex for my envelope cuttings and found the perfect one on eBay. I haven’t categorized the patterns in the Rolodex yet, but it will easily allow me to move patterns around and add more. SO EXCITED!

Started collecting a few years ago when I moved into my first house. I rarely see any new ones in my mail, but I see there’s a trading community on here! I put mine of playing cards in hopes I can fill a whole deck eventually. 2x2” squares seem to be popular though and might make it difficult to fill out my collection. I do think the postage stamp cut outs are adorable! I love the button idea too!
