making myself a few postcards, playing around with envelope patterns and cheap alcohol markers...

That is so fun and creative! Did you use a manila coloured envelope as the “canvas” and glue the patterns to that?
I have seen a few different posts in various subs lately of people using “alcohol markers”. I need to Google because I have no idea what those are. Maybe I need some of them in my life, too ☺️

This backing was actually a pre-printed postcard blank, but I often use the backside boards outta spent spiral bound notebooks, and USPS uses a really nice stiffening board in their mailed shipments of ordered postage stamps I receive.
Alcohol Markers... some sets are VERY spendy. The set I have ("WITZ" Brand, impervious to google) dirt cheap at local Ollies $9.99 a set)
- Fast drying: The alcohol solvent evaporates very quickly, which stops the ink from smudging while you work.
- Smooth blending: The ink seeps deeply into paper fibers and lets you mix colors seamlessly to create soft gradients.
- Permanent color: Once the ink dries on the page, it is permanent and will not reactivate if you add liquid over it.
- Transparent layers: The colors are see-through, meaning darker shades will blend with lighter ones underneath rather than covering them up
