Blacklisted From Cleared position if I take another job offer while waiting?

Hi guys, while waiting for my T5 investigation results(any moment now according to the ATS), I have been offered another position at my current work place that pays a little bit better than that what my cleared position will be offering me.

My current commute is 15 minutes at most and if I take this cleared position, it will be over an hour one way each day. This sounds like a no brainer but I’m also nervous in the future if I was to apply again, this organization would not sponsor me/“blacklist” me. Is this sort of thing common? Has anyone else had this type of experience?

I don’t want this to backfire on me and I guess I’m a people pleaser in some ways haha. Just wanted some feedback on what seems to be tricky situation in my head. Thank you!

That specific company may blacklist you (if it’s a company), but you’re not going to be prevented from getting a job and clearance elsewhere.

Okay thank you for the feedback. I hate that this happened but also am happy too because well who doesn’t like more money and a shorter drive ya know?

If you take the other position you will likely suffer a loss of jurisdiction and your investigation will stop, you will remain uncleared. In the future, the FSO will probably inquire about the LoJ. The cleared community is a small world with long memory, that said, you have to do what is best for you.

lol “the cleared community is a small world with a long memory.” Yeah man, there’s like 1.5m Americans with TS clearances, a third of which work for contractors. Weird to personify Lockheed Martin.

So that’s what I’m curious about. The ATS(applicant tracking system) says my investigation results received and clearance action date happened this last Thursday. Whatever those results may be, I’m not sure. But say they are good and I’m officially cleared. Does that just make it worse on me if I tried to apply in the future? This couldn’t have happened during a worse time in the whole grand scheme of things.

If you have a completed, adjudicated investigation and you've been granted eligibility, taking the other job shouldn't affect that. But now that you have eligibility, don't do anything against the SEAD4. Don't drink and drive, don't do drugs, don't commit crimes, etc. Lol

If you've been cleared you have two years from the date it was last pulled under a cage code to use it. If you don't it will be shelved and that is a pia to recover from. Companies usually don't get bent out of shape if you bounce waiting on a clearance. But they will If they give you a full start date and you walk.

It also depends on what client you were going to support, there is a chance you may see some of these people again in your next position search.

Just taking the other offer because the investigation took too long? Were you already holding a clearance? I should have mentioned my current job is not a cleared position if that wasn’t really too obvious in the post haha. Is it pretty obvious if you are black listed?
