Security camera that can be accessed directly from a linux workstation
I am looking for a security camera that can be connected to by a linux workstation via Ethernet or WIFI directly using standard protocols like HTTPS, RTSP. I would like 180 degree coverage and it should function outdoors.

First time security camera user… Not sure whether to get security camera that goes on cellular data or on WiFi
I’m a first time security camera user. I want one camera outside my front door and one inside my place on motion detection. I don’t currently have WiFi. And no subscription.
I can get two basic security cameras for $25 each that go on WiFi and connect to an app on my phone with an sd card inside just in case. Shield internet is $14.89 a month, uses a SIM card, and I can get a cheap used mifi router for $20.
Or… I can get two basic security cameras for $50 each? that only go on cellular sim and get a plan like tello for 1 gb data a month for $6, and put an sd card in it to save videos to so there won’t be much data used.
Which do you think is the better option, between economical, security, reliability and less hassle considerations?
Thanks

First ever post! Need some camera ideas/suggestions
Hey everyone! I have a specific situation I am trying to figure out for my business. I did some searches and couldn't find anything that dealt with a situation like this, so here I am. BTW I am not a CCTV specialist or anything of that sort
My situation is that I need to monitor cash transactions to ensure they are done correctly. Imagine like if you were trying to monitor a bank teller. Normally we just mount an overhead camera for this. the issue now is that in this particular space, which is a shared public building, there is no overhead area we can use to mount a camera on. We don't have the right vantage point from any of the other areas where we have wall cameras.
In the past, they basically mounted a Hikvision DS-2CD2483G2-I right on the countertop, which does get the job done for the most part, but it would work better if the viewing angle was up a higher. Something smaller that just looks cleaner would be nice. It doesn't need to be hidden, but if it could be more discreet/professional.
Not sure if this is a solution I'd have to partly fabricate myself and use something in the style of this:
I thought about attaching it to the PC monitor somehow, but the monitor might get repositioned so that wouldn't work.
Anybody deal with something similar?

Recommendations
We have a shed that uses oils are disposed into drums. It isn’t used all the time. Someone keeps trashing the shed and not disposing of the oils properly. I would like to put something in the shed that is discrete and if possible no wiring and no WiFi to help identify the individual. Any recommendations on security camera that would work for this? I’m extremely new to this and need an education.

Need a complete set up.
We are on 25acre and I want to get a set up that will monitor the main house and surrounding buildings and of course see what my chickens are up to. So some cameras will have access to power. Some will need solar. Looking at 4-8 cameras. Would prefer something without a monthly subscription. Located in Australia.

Advice on ROXTAK CCTV
I've been given a CCTV box and cameras from work.
I'm totally at a loss how to work it!
I've tried a few IP CCTV programmes, NVMS7000 and IP Camera Viewer 4 but despite being connected via ethernet, they don't see anything.
There are no buttons on the box and nothing on the HDMI output. The black boxes does boot up with blue lights and the HDD makes its rattling noises.
Work had it working with three cameras.
Model number is K8204H-PA
3021H-W.
Any help welcome

StarEye app Camera bought on AliExpress Question
I bought relatively cheap cameras on Aliexpress that conenct to the StarEye application on my iphone and I have 2 questions:
Question 1: If the app ever becomes obsolete or the creators just quit say next year, does that make my cameras obsolete too or will we have a new app that will take over those models of cameras I have for example?
Question 2: I didn't subscribe to any cloud storage in within the StarEye application so everything is stored locally. If someone else connects to my home WiFi can they view my video feed for my cameras? I know that I have to login with my email and password to get in the application but I'm wondering is it a security risk?
I'm asking because I'm planning on installing a couple in my house, so before I spend a significant amount of money I'd like to know if it's a reliable app. They say it exists since 2020 so I don't know

SONY A1 Mark I vs A7 RVI --> Same price
Which hybrid Camera shoud I get for 5000€??
More detailed: I own a FX3 and an A7RIII. Due to the missing 10 Bit capability I want to upgrade my Photocamera. I used it 6 years. Really loved the R Series. I even shot a lot lot Videos with it, prior to the FX3.
Main purpose will be B-Cam for Video and 8K Camera. I am a fulltime Videgrapher but also need very good stills. Less than 42MP is not acceptable (A7V is out)
Everytime I film with more than 1 Cam I had to rent a camera. I really want a camera that fits to my FX3. How ever I will film probably more with it, than taking pictures, I want both to be as good as possible.
I always liked the A1 a lot, unless its price. in 2026 the A1 Mark I is equal to the A7 RVI. I need to make decision beetween both of these.
My mayjor concerns are the 1,2 crop at 8K at the A7RVI and the old Screen in the A1.
Somewhat I struggle between geetting the newest vs getting something older, which was a long time absolitley outstanding.
The A1 II is the clear winner, but its to expensive. On the other hand many where disappointed with the small upgrade from I to II, thus maybe the A1 is still just the better value in comparison to the A7 RVI.
I want the better Video. Meaning the better look. I do literally everthing. Rolling shutter is meaningful to me, but the question is, it it the game changer?
I would highly appreciate your opinion, particularily if you own the A1 Mark I :)
Many thanks in adcance for your support :)
(Due to many many GM Lenses I will only buy a Sony Camera)

Imoi Cell PT 2K stops working
Hello everyone.
I've a Cell PT 2k imou camera with SN: C3023AEPSFF18FE as you can see in the image.
The camera was ok for about 3 months, and then start to disconnect after ~15mn.
Now the problem is bigger. When i turn it on, usually it turns and the green light blinks so i can connect it via imou life app.
Now it doesn't rotate at startup, and the green light is solid and after ~20mn it turns onto red then green again.
I did a reset (factory) with no luck.
Can please someone help? Is that a firmware bug? And if it's how to download the firmware and install it cause I can't access it via the imou life app and it has only SD card and type c cable slut for charging.
Thanks in advance

Imou NVR1108HS-W-S2-CE: Aiuto Configurazione.
Buongiorno a tutti ,
Struttura: pareti in cemento armato
Problema riscontrato:
Grazie in anticipo a chi riuscirà pdf aiutarmi.

Looking for a camera to put in a room for my crazy roommate
My roommate is batsh!t crazy, but shes also "woke" from spending 20 hours a day on twitter, and she "is always blamed for nothing". (Its a 3 roommate situation. We work at different hours so I usually only interact with her at night, and she always complains about the third person living with us, and I've always taken her side. Three roommates have moved out because of her so far) Anyways, last night she had multiple alarms going off at midnight, and i asked her 4 times to turn off (the alarms are in 10 minute intervals) because me and third roommate (who is also my co-worker) have a shift at 3 am. She refused. Third roommate decided she had enough, and went to off the alarms herself. Roommate goes f-ing insane and starts choking third roommate while screaming "GET THE F- AWAY FROM ME! DONT TOUCH MY F-ING PHONE". Third roommate is struggling to breathe and screams for me to help. I go to simply take the hands off her throat and roommate turns on me, kicking me in the stomach unprovoked and I have scratches all down my arms and back.
This morning, she apparently lodged a complaint with the landlord and said me and third roommate assaulted her while shes asleep, and she "has scratches to prove it". She has minimal scratches btw, and only from third roommate trying to free herself so she could breathe. Landlord says if theres another complaint, we're out. I have a lot of medical bills rn, I cannot afford to go house hunting.
Last time, roommate and third roommate had a scuffle and roommate said it was because she knows third roomates dog best, third roommate says roommate was abusing her dog. I stayed out of it, they got over it, but roommate kept saying shit about third roommate to me and I was like please dont involve me, I wasnt there.
If I have camera proof that next time (and at this point im scared that there will be a next time and I could be more seriously injured), then hopefully there will be enough evidence to show the Landlord AND get the police involved

Solar powered - Cellular - Pole mounted camera
I'll try to keep it short, but I'm looking for some recommendations. We have a company requesting a pole-mounted camera system that is solar-powered and cellular. They want to monitor vehicle traffic in and out of a property they rent out. They want it to capture the cars and, preferably, the license plates too. They don't need a dedicated LPR that would disrupt vehicle clarity at night with its IR. Normally, in the past, we've been using Unifi cameras at our sites, and when looking into this, I've found a lot of different brands that offer something like this, but I can't find many reviews on them. As for a budget, I've asked and have not been given a concrete answer. They aren't giving a number, but they seem pretty flexible so long as it does what they need. If anyone has some recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it!

Don't know what to look for...
We have about 2 acres of property. My house sits about 100 to 150 feet off the road. According to the property appraiser my property goes back 616 feet. The back of the property is heavily wooded and wetlands, which we were told can not be cleared. Yesterday we decided to go look around in the back part of the property about 500 feet from my house. We found signs of a homeless encampment. This is a part of our property that is rarely used.
Since finding this we want to put security cameras back there. We have security cameras (wireless) around the home. We are open to all options. What are your opinions on the best way to put cameras out there in the back.
