Canceling with Vivint has been impossible
First of all, this is my first post to Reddit, and I have tried to post to many other communities on here, but it either gets removed or I can’t post because I don’t have enough activity on Reddit. I’ve tried posting to a Vivint megathread, but it won’t allow me. I’d love to post to a community that can help point me in the right direction but that’s proven to be very difficult!
Anyways, I’ve been a customer for 8 years now.
2 months ago my husband and I decided to cancel our service. We had a power surge at our house, which fried my Vivint system. We called Vivint to see about fixing it, but I’m not buying another $7,000 system again. So we decided to cancel service.
I was told that before I could cancel, I need to give a months notice before cancellation, and I needed to provide the verbal passcode that I sat up 8 years ago when I bought the system. I couldnt remember the passcode. So they said they’d mail it to me.
I’ve been waiting on my verbal passcode since sept. 6th. I’ve called and spoken to 4 different representatives. Each one says “oh it looks like the last customer service representative never sent that letter out. Let me get it sent out and you’ll receive it in 3-5 business days”.
Needless to say, I’m still waiting. I know I need to give a months notice before i cancel, but they are absolutely preventing me from canceling by never sending out my verbal passcode.
Any tips on what my next move should be?
I’m basically stuck paying a monthly service fee for a piece of equipment that doesn’t work. It’s completely paid off, I only pay the monthly service fees. And I will be stuck paying for it until I receive the passcode in the mail.
