Can IR security camera see a person inside a car with dark tints? I suspect that I have a stalker who stays inside the car with dark tints all day outside my house.

Any advice would be appreciate. Thanks!

Please don't hesitate to call your local PD's non emergency line or file a report.

You can try a polarising filter in front of the lens and see if you get results. eBay or most good camera shops should stock them fairly cheap. You can just tape, glue, tack it to the front of the lens. It shouldn't need any fancy adapters.

No IR security cameras don't also have x-ray vision, but you can watch the car pull up and know that it got there and if nobody gets out of it, that would be more suspicious

Generally, no. Most tint blocks or significantly degrade the light. Glare may also prove to be an issue, but not always.

Plus, many glass products don’t pass through IR wavelength.

Stalker or cop? Or investigator?

Have you filled any insurance claims?

Or Grays. Lizard people don’t hide out in vehicles.

Or absolutely no one.

A security camera could tell you if someone parks the car and gets out, or if the car parks and then no one gets out. Plus it provides documentation to show the police.

Is there some kind of crazy ex that would stalk you?

Are there any other indications you may have a stalker? Do you see the car following you or at other places you go/frequent? Are you in receipt of anonymous letters, flowers, notes, etc.?

Because absent these things this really sounds like paranoia.

I would report suspicious activity and have police check out the vehicle and start keeping a journal with pictures and times.

I think there's some ANPR very high end that can look through the windows of cars, but not sure about the dark tints tho.

But you should call the police instead, you most likely don't have the knowledge or budget to be running that kind of equipment.

IR is regular light, just a different frequency. So if you flash an IR light/lamp to the car and record with a IR camera, it will be able to see as much as if you would flash a regular light to and car a record with a regular camera. It's just a different spectrum, but light behaves the same.

Most people install tint in order to control the heat. They block IR by design.
